I kinda have this itch to flash this rom....anyone tried it?? I kinda like ASOP roms but its so much different that sense that it makes me go back to sense roms lol.... plus i went to the MIK3D B1, with GM 1.1 and V6 and this thing is smoking fast...it would be hard for me to leave this one now...i dont like not having the market on AOSP....how do you even install your apps?? just download .apk files and install them???

I finally rooted my Evo few weeks ago. I decided to check out many roms such as MikG, Fresh Evo, CM7 and MIUI. The funny part is that MIUI is the last rom I flashed because of 4g. I used 4g a lot because of video relay service (I'm deaf). I'm impressed that a vrs app does work on 3g on MIUI. Basically, I totally love MIUI. Surely, MIUI has some bugs like others. The best part is that MIUI staffs upgrade MIUI almost every week. Don't get me wrong. I like sense roms. It's just I like to be different. I get bored of having a sense rom. For your information, MIUI does have the market. Every rom has pros and cons.

Before you make a decision, take a tour on MIUI.us UNITED WORLDWIDE - News. Wish you all the best. To be quite honest, many roms are amazing no matter what.

I have been on MIUI for the last couple of weeks, its my new favorite. The good thing about MIUI is even though it is AOSP it has the market built in. MIUI is fast and I have it paired with tiamat 3.3.7 sbc kernel and get great battery life. I would also suggest you go look at the MIUI.us forum. If you don't like it just restore the nandroid you make before flashing. Also if you don't like the ijoke look or the fact that you don't have an app drawer, try out another launcher such as Launcher Pro or ADW.

You can also install the market on CM7, you just have to flash a gapps.zip. The only reason it isn't in CM7 is because google sent him a C&D letter.

I really like MIUI. Super smooth, and INSANELY customizable. It's really impressive. I think a great deal of the problems reported are because (as with most problems with any rom) most don't do a full wipe.

I ran 1.8.5 with tiamat 3.3.7 for stretch and really loved it -- I did need to flash gapps w/ vvm from their guide (market is already there, but I need my vvm and other google apps) and the gps fix on xda. I then tried to update to the next build using the native MIUI backup app, and had all kinds of issues -- but then did a clean install and only used the native backup app for restoring my screen setup/folders (and tb for apps), and it was great.

I haven't tried 1.8.26 yet (been busy trying many other roms), but am itching to do so. The only reported complaint I've seen that worries me is those reporting slow 3G speeds with this build, so those of you running it I'd love to hear your experience with that...

vvm is just Sprint's Visual Voicemail app. And that does make it easier if you don't use gps -- but I can't get anywhere without google maps and navigation anymore. :) Have fun with MIUI and tell us what you think!

1.8.26 is the only MIUI rom I flashed. To be quite honest, I have no problem with 3g. I watched Manchester United vs Arsenal live stream online. It ran smooth and fine. Also, I watched a streaming Netflix movie on my Evo without wifi.

i downloaded the Gapps vvm zip, so are you supposed to just wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash it???

Yeah, that should work. I usually flash it during the same recovery session as the initial ROM flash with MIUI or AOSP roms, but I don't see why it wouldn't work later as well (someone please correct me if that is wrong).

oh and when you make a nandroid of an AOSP rom, is it the same as doing it for a sense rom?? boot, system, data, and wimax?? or are there others you need to check as well??

  15. ocnbrze

    ocnbrze DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!!

it is the same thing. no different. but you do not have to backup wimax. as long as you have one nandroid with it backed up on your computer then you can just do the first three.

hmmm so, i tried installing vvm they way the tell you on miui, just to see if it worked....and it does...but, now im getting a notice in the status bar saying, a mandatory update for voicemail is available....ok so i tap on it, then i get a message saying general failure please try again later.....any idea what thats all about??

fixed that for you lol. The instructions on MIUI's website for VVM are old I'm pretty sure, now all you need to do is flash that .zip. Also it is best not to flash gapps in the same recovery session as the initial ROM because it can sometimes mess things up, a good rule to follow is one flash per session.
