Unfortunately I have not found a solution to this. I have tried Handcent and Chomp but it still does the same thing. I guess since the phone is so kick-ass I will just have to deal with it.

    Sorry.

    Hi guys,

So I've just upgraded from HTC One X to the HTC One and so far it is awesome.

On the HTC One X when I received a text the contact picture would show with the message on the lock screen, but I can't seem to get it to work on the HTC One (The contact pictures are there).

    Any ideas?

Do you still see the message?

I don't get the picture either as I think it's meant to be that way to blend in with the minimalistic look.

I get contact photos on lock screen for everything. Missed calls, emails, texts, WhatsApp etc. etc.

Works for me. I am on Sprint, 4.1.2, using a Nova launcher and Handcent SMS for messages. Pictures from my contact show right up from the locked screen.

Any change you have duplicate contacts for their phone number and Facebook account (or wherever the picture comes from)? If so, just open up their contact and from the top right menu choose "Link".

Thanks for the reply guys. Seems very strange that some people get them and some don't. I've checked all the links and made sure there's no duplicates etc. It worked perfectly fine on my HTC One X.

Interesting, are you using stock launcher and messaging apps? I really need this to work!!

you're not using the sense launcher or messaging app so it doesn't apply to you.

Launcher shouldn't matter, but the MMS app might.

I'm having the same issue actually - the productivity lockscreen is functional enough but pictures would be cool. Option's checked and all that.

Ive had my HTC ONE from Tmobile USA for about 5-6 mos now and out of the blue today my phone stopped notifying me of incoming MMS. Once I was informed that my boss had sent these messages to me I checked my phone and I had to go in and download these pictures. As I said before this has never happened. So once I got home I began to dig around my phone and see if something had changed in the settings that i was unaware of. My max file size is set to 1000KB and the files sent to me were 600KB so that ruled that out. So then I thought it was a memory issue with my texts messages, so i went in and deleted a lot of old stuff there. But, still nothing. I even tried Tmobiles support team, but still nothing. At this point I dont know what to do.... Can anyone help?

could be a temporary issues with the network. the phone will not just stop doing something on its own. I see these type of message a lot (no data, phone wont go to websites) and most often its the network.

test your phone with people on different networks. if you know people from other carriers, have them send you a mms message and see if the same issue is occurring.

you have attempted soft resets i am sure.

    you are NOT rooted correct?

try this time to press and hold the power button until the phone shuts off and restarts, then release the button and reattempt.

are you getting conventional SMS messages? phone calls working ok?

does this issue happen when you are in a cellular area AND wifi?

are you using the stock message app or 3rd party?

Yes have tried soft resets. No I AM not rooted. Phone works fine with SMS and during calls. Have tried the power restart as well but did not resolve issues. Have not tried having someone send me something from a different provider though, didn't even cross my mind that this could be the issue. Two more things though that could be, I have been using Google Voice due to my job as our phone system is set up through this and I had to enable their Google number as my default and disable mine on my phone. But if that were the issue the other people I work with would have the same issue. I also have been using WiFi a lot lately just to safe my data so most of the time I am my messages MMS/SMS come through via WiFi. Actually my phone is set up to look for a WiFi connection and if there is a pin saved it automatically connects to it. Hope I didn't leave anything out.

sounds like google voice is the culprit. if you have it set up to default to use google voice this can influence how you receive mms. google voice does not accept mms messages only sms.

try other people who are on other carriers and compare notes. being on wifi only can also cause issues.

perhaps remove or deactivate google voice and keep cellular data on and re attempt this test.

    Hi all,

HTC One. Had a slight incident today which resulted in the screen becoming external to the phone

Phone is powered on, but screen is (obviously) blank and unresponsive.

However, I can it in. It's not recognised by HTC Sync, however it does display as an external drive.

Does anyone know if it's possible to locate the SMS files to copy to the replacement phone? Would love to be able to transfer the conversation threads across if at all possible.

    Thanks in advance.

I like your definition of "slight" :D

Seriously though, the answer probably depends on whether you are rooted and whether you have usb debugging switched on. If the answers to both of those are yes then you should be able to "adb pull" the message database off the phone.

The problem otherwise is that the messages will be in a database in the /data/data area (/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases is the standard folder), and you'll need root to view or copy it. And I doubt that area will mount on the computer anyway, in which case you'd need to use adb to pull the file, which is where usb debugging comes in: if that's off it's going to be very hard to turn on without the screen!

If you could run a backup app you could copy the messages from the backup, but the problem is running it without a screen. :(

That's one reason I like SMS Backup+ - you set it to automatically back up and you have the backup in your GMail account, off the device, if anything like this happens (less essential for me now that Titanium can back up SMS in a portable format, but still a nice insurance). But no use unless you were already running that as it needs setting up.

I agree with your assessment. Patpending will need to get a new screen. There's no way to launch any remote control app (teamviewer quicksupport comes to mind) (unless someone knows of one that will launch on boot), even though they can be installed from the store over the air.

Oh heck, I forgot that! :(

Scary wrote a little app that would start on boot and fire up another app - search "AF Rescue" in the Play Store. The original version would try to launch WiFi File Explorer, and I'm sure that wouldn't let you access the SMS database, but I knew there was a second one, and I've just checked and that one will try to launch MyPhoneExplorer client, which if you can start it up might be useful here (at least from the not very detailed description on the Play Store). Might have been worth a try, though I guess too late now :(

Okay I can't receive MMS messages for the life of me. I don't get a notification, I don't get a download, I don't get anything. It is very frustrating. I have no idea what it is or what to do. It happened out of the blue. I have a 4.2.2 Verizon HTC One stock. Thanks for the responses.
