MMS/SMS Notification Icon

Ok guys, I need some help. I use handcent, and that is my default messenger.

Now, I have already turned off the notification for MMS/SMS in my sounds and notifications system settings, but it still pops up from the stock app. Why?

I wouldn't mind it poping up, but when I click on it, it doesn't go away, I have to always use clear notifications, but anyways, yeah its turned off, and still doing it. Any ideas?

Did you also turn off the auto-retrieve for the stock app? If not, do that.

You don't need to turn off the auto retrieve for the stock app, just the notifactions. Open the stock app and go to settings. Then uncheck the box for notifications.

Why not turn it off for the stock app? No reason to take up space on a program I am not using?

I've downloaded Handcent and had / have the same problems on the Hero. Disable everything in Messenger and still get the notification of new messages along with new in Handcent. If one un installs Messenger and realizes later that Handcent was'nt the best choice is there a way to get it back without a factory reset?

if you remove messenger completely.. no other app like handcent or chomp will work.. they require the stock messenger app

ok i need help...everytime i get a text...two notification pop up on my task bar...now i dont have handcent or chomp....i use my default test messageing app but almost everytime i get a message the origanal icon pop up an then right after a green notification pops up an i have no idea where its coming or how to get rid of it

what phone do you have?? are you rooted? if so, what ROM? download shootme and get a screen shot to show us what you mean... if you are not rooted, you might try asking in the non-rooted section.
