I always deposited my checks via mobile banking and then suddenly one day the camera in the app stopped working. It was suggested to me that it was my phone, HTC One M8. It will not snap the picture. It doesn't try to focus. It doesn't do anything. It's like the button on the screen to take the picture just doesn't work. Has there been a fix for this yet?

Does the phone's own camera app work OK, which should prove there's nothing wrong with the hardware.

If that's OK, then it's quite possibly a bug with the banking app itself. Try clearing its data and cache. Also was it updated around the time that it broke? Could be worth checking with the app's devs about it as well.

I've seen this in various apps before. It's probably not the camera but an issue with the app.
Try force closing the app or deleting and reinstalling the app.

I encountered this today. Went searching or a solution and found this. Tried everything you all suggested and did not work. any more suggestions?

Which banking app are you using? On what phone? Was there a recent update, either to the app or Android? What's your Android version?

I would contact your bank and the developer of the app.
Can you take photos with just the camera app?
