Remove data throttle from stock GK v4.5.596.
Verizon throttles at the server, therefore you can do nothing to unthrottle. If this appears to speed up your phone, it's all in your head.
Only very small companies throttle at the phone.
Yeah, I haven't had time to change it yet
Yeah, that's what I figured, but people still ask for this, and since it's simple enough to make the changes, I do it.
But still, there must be a reason why the throttle files are on the phone.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand this thread just went to sh*t......lol JK lol carry on.
A lot of DBZ talk going on in this thread. Soooo, does this data hack work or not?
well back on topic...
anyone actually know what this file is? i understand its "supposed to" remove throttling from the phone, but what does it edit/remove/replace. dont want just throm a random system file on my phone.
As this thread had gone off topic, those posts have ben deleted. If anyone has any question as to what the file in the OP does, please ask here.
There are other uses for the file.
I had this on .595 and didn't notice much a difference.
i can never really tell if im being throttled, maybe its just me, but im not using alot of data here lately
So I did a very small sample sized field test today:
I streamed the same video on my way to work twice today (same direction). Without the hack applied there were a lot of skips. With it applied a few hours later, the file played perfectly. There could be a number of reasons for this, but for now, I'm at least intrigued.
I'll use it for about a month and get a thorough synopsis ready. Streaming high quality music videos (strictly for the audio component) on youtube rarely results in a perfect playback for me.
It can also affect roaming on your phone. Ive learned not to mess with those type of files.
I've never had an issue with roaming using this mod.
How long does it usually take to boot because mine didnt boot even after like 5 minutes. How should I do this?
It would be fairly hard to throttle from the server because it would need to react absolutely instantly. It doesn't know when to throttle untill it reaches that limit. If you go into a phones framework, then services.jar, then classes.dex, then traverse to the right directory you will find the ThrottleServices.smali files. Deleting them actually does make your data faster.
Get a speed test, thats the real proof
yeah stay away from anti throttle apps they don't help and I've used up to 25 gigs... usually around 15, in a month and never saw any type of slowing down in my service... using the throttle hacks, i saw my 3g get cut every 15-20 minutes and my entire connection would restart
