I just wanted to post up here because of an amazing experience I had recently with customer service. The other day I was using a pair of Monster Turbine headphones with my ipod. I had ear muff hearing protectors over them, because I was in a loud environment. I snagged the earpiece cord on the handle of a tool I was using at the time, and ripped the earphone out of my ear, and out of the ipod. Music stopped instantly. The cord pulled apart where the two separate cords split to go to the ear buds. Now, at this point I just about lost it, because they are important to me, as I got them when my father passed away. Anyway, I went on finishing what I started and when I got home later in the day I called the monster customer service number to ask about what I had to do to get them repaired. I was willing to pay whatever, because they mean a lot to me. The representative was kind, and totally helpful. Long story short, All I had to do was send my old headphones in, and they are sending me a new pair. They apparently have a 3 year pretty much unconditional guarantee on these earbuds. I would not hesitate to buy another pair in a second. It has been a long time since I have had that good an experience dealing with any type of customer service. I felt kinda obligated to show them the same love they showed me, and let all you great android folks know about my dealings with such a classy company, and to say if you have thought about buying headphones, check monster out, they are good stuff, and good people.

Yeah, I totally sound like an advertisement, but Like I said they deserve some good publicity. There aren't too many companies that offer customer service like that anymore!:D

    Gotta agree with Jammy.

From audio/video gurus I've talked to, it has been said time and time again and pretty well established that Monster sells way overpriced equipment that claims to be superior to the inexpensive brands (i.e. HDMI cables). They charge an arm and a leg for a cable when you can get the same quality for under $10. They don't just do this with their HDMI cables, however. They do it with everything.

I would never buy anything from Monster personally. To me they are just as bad if not worse then BOSE who caters to individuals that have a lot of disposable income but know nothing about audio. It's all about the marketing.

They are just a step (ethically) above the websites who sell audio cables for thousands of dollars and implement colorful language in their descriptions that make no sense.

I didn't want to rain on the nice customer service they provided, or your story; But monster products are really terrible for the price they charge. And I would also agree with Jamor, they a worst then Bose. With Bose you actually get an ok product, but with monster its not very close to what they are advertising it as at all.

But ya, glade they helped you out, its always a nice surprise to get off the phone with CSR and be happy about the experience.

Lol, I was just gonna say that Bose does actually deliver a decent product but it's overpriced.

Ok, have any of you naysayers listened to a pair of the earbuds? Or are you all just interweb high def gurus? I know that they fit in my ears WAY better than any pair I have previously owned (which are numerous,) sound incredible, and stand behind their product. I was just relating an experience I had, and NOT with HDMI cables.

From my personal experience, Shure, Sennheiser, Ultimate Ears make very nice headphones. Bose, Monster, Skullcandy do not.

I have heard a pair of the Turbines and the "collectors Miles Davis edition" ones too which retails at about $400 bucks. Both were not very good IMO. What other ear phones have you used?

Ok, guys so as not to digress into an internet pissing match about who makes the best headphones, or to justify that my taste is better than yours or vice versa, the whole point in my original post was to say how good an experience I had using the earbuds and with Monster's customer service. I apologize if my tastes are not up to snuff with yours. The headphones have an importance to me that far exceeds any sound quality measurement, or cost/benefit analysis. It may sound stupid to you but they remind me of a time in my life that means more to me than any of you could imagine, and the fact that Monster would replace them without question because of my stupidity was impressive to me. I am SURE without a doubt that there are many other, probably cheaper headphones out there, that sound better to a discerning ear. My hearing is probably not good enough to ever notice much of a difference. I like them. I really liked dealing with their service department. End of story.

I've actually seen quite a few reviews praising them on sound quality.

I would consider myself somewhat of an audiophile, and I understand that some people don't care, don't notice, or are perfectly happy with their headphones.. and these also have a sentimental value to you.. I was just putting my opinion out there about Monster.

So sorry if I come off like a dbag, not trying to be a snob.. 100% not my intention.

I have a pair of monster headphones, they are the best headphone I have used so far. I don't use earbuds anymore, the ones I have sits over the ears. I have bought the cheap $20-30 dollars headphones before and they were all garbage.I can hear everything clear and crisp when having a conversation with the monsters headphones not to mention my music comes in nice as well. (Just my 2 cent)

Depends on who is reviewing tho, with or without an amp, from what source, what you have listened to before, type of music. Also I don't think monster audio products are necessarily bad, but very similar to Bose. (Dare I say Apple?) There is almost always a better option at the same price, your paying more for a brand, rather then straight quality.

But again almost everything in the world of audio is subjective. Some people are perfectly happy with the ipod stock headphones , but w/e works for for you personally..I again was not trying to rain on the parade here just my opinion. :(

So going back to the original post, how is it acceptable to have them completely replaced? I mean you got these when dad passed away. You are getting a new pair now. Seems to me like the sentimental value was in that (specific) pair, no?

Yeah, reef I guess you are correct, but the fact that I will have the headphones that he chose to own, in a usable form, as opposed to sitting in my junk drawer is what makes it acceptable. The fact that I can still use them and that he would be laughing at my dumb ass for breaking them to begin with.

That's great they replaced your earbuds even after you told them you trashed them. I know its hard to keep the cords cleared from getting caught on something. Why at work I use cheap ones so if I do trash them I won't be upset with myself.

To the rest that trashed monster in this guys thread is pure shameful. He was giving his good forturne with customer service. Something many of us has experience on very rare occasion. You bring up something that has no berring on the subject at hand. Hdmi cables? Come on give it a break. You all sound as bad as the people that tries to bash apple every chance they get. How about look at what the post is about a person who had a great experience with customer service and leave the hate at the door.

Monster Cable might make good but very overpriced products. But when another company or individual dare use the dictionary word and common noun 'monster' in their name or product.... Monster Cable's trademark lawyers become very interested.
The Scariest Monster of All Sues for Trademark Infringement - WSJ.com

.....yes, Monster Cable are trademark trolls of the worse kind.... "Over the years, it has gone after purveyors of monster-branded auto transmissions, slot machines, glue, carpet-cleaning machines and an energy drink, as well as a woman who sells "Junk Food Monster" kids' T-shirts that promote good eating habits. It sued Monster.com over the job-hunting Web site's name and Walt Disney Co. over products tied to the film "Monsters Inc." It opposed the Boston Red Sox trademark applications for seats and hot dogs named for the Green Monster, the legendary left-field wall in Fenway Park. All in all, Monster Cable says it has fought about 190 monster battles at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and filed around 30 monster lawsuits in federal courts."

Ok, makes sense. I suppose we should all be a bit more sensitive anyway. I am sorry for your loss. It's nice you have something that you use often to remind you of dear old dad. :)
