Anyway to get more than 3 desktops? 5 or 6 would be nicer!
is that an app?
OpenHome Full - $3.99 - up to 7 home screens, tons of customization, and tons of skins on the marketplace
Must have app IMO
FreshFace - (from the makers of aHome I believe). It's free.
FreshFace v2.0.1 Application for Android | Tools
When searching for OpenHome on market there are TONS of themes that come up but I've not yet found the actual application.
Is there something special to search for or another way to purchase/install?
Yeah, search "OPEN HOME FULL" that will get you the application.
"OPEN HOME SKIN" will get you a list of all the skins
when searching the market, you can also exclude terms by using a [-] (minus) symbol - so, if you search for Panda Home and get a lot of themes, use Panda Home -themes and all those with with Panda Home and Theme will be excluded from the match.
I just happened to try ths yesterday, and it made my life a lot easier.
^^ Yes search boolean will work, just like in google.
(Tip: Google "SEARCH BOOLEAN COMMANDS" for a list of other commands)
That is an awesome tip; thank you
trying open home now, only problem im having is sometimes it wont refresh the icons on the main screen. it just sits there i have to swipe side to side to get it to come up
Panda home should be stable for the droid in the next day or two, the beta works fairly well. Panda is always free also.
I'm gonna try GDE... Open home isn't really floating my boat. Too many FC's and not enough customization compared to the competitors...
An alternative - create a new folder on your desktop and store additional or less used apps. You can even rename the folders.
Another option for saving space on desktop is this: More Icons Free Widget v1.1 Application for Android | Productivity
Alows you to stuff three little icons into the space of one. I've tested it, and provided your fingers aren't too big, it actually works really well. I've collapsed my Dialer, Messaging, and Contacts icons down into one 1x1 icon square.
This is a widget.
I've been pretty happy with GDE. Not only can you select how many desktop screens you want (up to 7) it automatically changes to landscape when you rotate the phone without having to open the keyboard.
