I love how it looks, the chrome outline looks great. It's not really black, more of a really dark navy blue. The trim at the bottom interferes a little with the soft keys but it's really not an issue. It was quite easy to get used to.

Well, it's a tad obvious it's from Engadget.

I was just saying I don't care how much it costs (although the obvious assumption is $199), but I would like a little more confirmation on release date. Yes, August 23rd is the rumor, but visual confirmation would be nice.

Even nicer??? In time for my trip in early August, but that's unlikely, I know.

any idea if vzw is going to allow originally droid users to upgrade at 199 price or will we have to wait until contract is done (that is next april i think for those of us that got it last nov).

also , any specs on size

Well, we don't know whether early upgrades will be allowed yet, but you wouldn't have to wait too long anyway. You would be eligible for 2-year pricing at 12 months through Verizon's Annual Upgrade Policy, you just lose your NE2.

As for size, it's been said that the size is basically identical to the Droid 1.

I still don't see it. Keyboard is much improved from the original, took a little getting used to though.

Even if you would have signed a 2 year when you bought your Droid, you still could have picked up the Droid 2 a year later for the 2 year price.

    Annual Upgrade policy.

The only reason to sign a 1 year is if you know for a fact that you will be dropping your carrier after the year is up. At least that's the only reason I can see to do it.

Annual upgrade has certain restrictions on contract price amount, and it only applies to the main line on the account

  21. annual upgrade can be used on any line, no additional fees or anything so say you have an annual upgrade today and want to get a moto droid but your a secondary line, you can use the annual upgrade extend their contract and get the moto droid on your line.

Hope the D1 accessories will work with this. Also, why the heck would they swap around the home, menu and back buttons vs. the D1. New users won't know the diff but D1 users will have to retrain... Pavlov knows...

The switched home, menu, search, and back buttons really aren't difficult to get used to. I switched from a Devour which had them in a different order and it wasn't an issue, maybe for the first few days.
