I've had my NC for a year. About 6 months ago I rooted it using AutoNooter. Things were fine unless I had to turn my Nook off. Whenever I turned it off, I would have trouble with it automatically restarting 5 or 6 times before it would finally stay on.

I decided yesterday that I would try CM7 since I wanted Netflix and still wanted to have a full tablet unlike just using the Nook 1.4 upgrade.

I used Huskermania's Youtube video to help me get CM7 and Gapps on my Nook. I did just what the video said, but I never got the little Android guy and the welcome to Nook Color set up screens.

What I have now is my NC running CM7 with no app store, the wrong time (since I couldn't figure out how to set up my time zone) and the damn thing keeps either freezing up or rebooting itself. I can, however, get online.

Totally at my wits end. I wonder if there's been a problem with this Nook right from the beginning. When I first got it last Christmas I had trouble with it rebooting.

I have no idea what to do. I'm not really savvy with this technology. All I can tell you is that I am running... (GRRR, I just went to go to my settings to tell you what I'm running when ADW Launcher quit and froze my Nook). Okay, that's it. I just froze again and now it rebooted itself.

    What do I do?

The CM7 link is old. Did you download and install 7.0.3 from the links on youtube, or did you get the more recent 7.1.0 stable? The CM7 link on youtube also includes an older version of gapps.

You should probably read colchiro's excellent guide:

Yes, I used 7.0.3 Encore and the version of gapps he said to useI suppose I have to un-root the Nook first before I start over?

Any ideas about the constant rebooting/freezing?

The link you sent is all Windows based and I am running on a Mac. What would the differences be?

You want to use CM7 7.1.0 and gapps 20110828 regardless of your Mac or PC preference.

I'm running CM7 from a microSD card, so I'm not personally familiar with replacing the stock OS with CM7. But I *think* you should be able to flash 7.1.0 from your recovery SD.

Chocophile - do I follow the same instructions I used before from huskermania only with the updated files? I'm sorry I'm such a pest, but I am so very confused.

It'll be easier to help you if you follow my guide.

Okay. I will do that. First though should I restore my Nook? If so, to what version?

I have a 12GB card that has all the huskermania files on it already. I am going to reformat that card and start it from scratch.

In your version, I don't have to launch the terminal and unmount the disk from my computer like I did before. Right? I just want to make sure I am doing it properly.

    Thanks.

No need to return to stock, just make sure you do the formats (system, cach, data).

No need to do terminal/command windows. It's a good idea to remove and replace the disk after flashing tho.

    I've downloaded the files.

    I have 7.1.0CMEncore.zip

The gapps downloaded as a folder called: gapps-gb-20110613-signed. I saw a newer one which downloaded as a folder called; gapps-gb-20110828-signed.

Inside the folders are two additional folders called META-INF and system.

    1) Do I extract the CM7 file first?
    2) What's up with the gapps file? Is it supposed to be in that folder?

I hope you're not pulling your hair out like I am! I'm ready to pay big bucks to anyone who can get me out of this jam.

Extract nothing. Copy the zips to the sdcard. :D

Use the 08 gapps. It's newer.

Thanks for your help, but I give up. I'll just use Nook 1.4 and be thankful I didn't brick the thing trying a dozen times to get CM7 up and running.

It's very hard to brick your NC.

Did your bootable sdcard boot ok?
