So my uncle is a phone tester for t-mobile, testing out the amaze 4g/ruby. He happened to let me play with it and i have ran quadrant to see the specs.

First of all, the processor's speed is shown as a question mark on quadrant however it is dual core. The GPU is an Adreno 220, although it is top of the line, the fps certainly contradicted with around 30fps average on a 3d benchmark. That being said, the RAM is 866mb from what quadrant displayed

Also, the user-experience was slightly laggy even with minimal background processes and 0 apps running in the foreground other than htc sense. From what i have inquired IT IS SENSE 3.5! The phone's lock screen is amazing yet a bit too complicated at first, however besides the teeny-weeny scrolling lag, the phone is good for someone who is not a power-user (i.e. someone who is not after hardcore gaming/benchmarks). If i had more time i would've rooted it and installed a few ROMs and kernels to test that out, but unfortunately my uncle would be letting his contract slide a but too far there.

Anyway, without further adieu, I must say that the quadrant score is....
a dissapointing 1860 minimum score and 2080 maximum score. At 1.5ghz...most phones today score well above 2700 or even in the 4000-5000 range. so the specs of this phone certainly hint at an underpowered device. But productivity wise...if you are using this for commercial/buisness/phone purposes...then its just as good a candidate as any other phone. If u are a die-hard specs geek...I would reconsider. Feel free to press the thanks button below :D

I suspect software is to blame with it being a demo. They tweak and tweak up until launch day basically. I'm curious to see how the production model does.

I may just get the Sensation instead, and root rom and overclock. Plus the sensation is one of the best looking and best built phones out there.

I'm well aware of that, which is why I may get the sensation. The way i see it, they're both going to perform similarily, so I might as well go with the sensation which looks incredible, I love its design.

Hold up the Sensation does have some low volume issues that is hardware related. I'm hoping they fixed this in the Amaze.

i've been playing with the amaze 4g all day. i must say that it is much smoother than the sensation but the quadrant scores are horrible. scoring only 200 more points than my thunderbolt. the camera is amazing and i love the added video recorder button. the casing is a bit awkward to me still though. the entire screen protrudes a good amount. with all this said though, it is a nice phone and i wouldn't mind having one.

One of the main things that was swaying me towards the Amaze rather than the Sensation was the vast increase in onboard storage (16 GB vs. 1 GB). Is the peformance of the Sensation more impressive than the Amaze? Enough to justify giving up the storage space? But moving up from an original MyTouch 3G with 512 MB (which I haven't even fully used) is this really an issue for me?

the amaze is truly better in every way. the only thing better about the sensation is the actual shape. i think the sensation is a much more attractive phone.

Can you tell me if on the amaze you can record videos while playing music in the background? On the sensation 4g, once I press record, the music stops playing in the background. Kinda sucks if I want to record something with a precise music. On my galaxy vibrant, I can do that.
How is the speaker sound and volume on this amaze? Hope it's much better than the sensation 4g. Can you hear well when talking and listening to someone on the speaker?
How is the 2meg front facing camera?

So PhoneDog's unboxing video confirms my theory. It's not laggy at all ;)

Does anyone know how much of that 16gb is available for app storage, without moving the app to an internal memory card?

I'm seriously thinking about jumping on the Nexus Prime, but this Amaze has similar specs & an amazing camera. I'm interested!

3.0? really? That is a bit of a disappointment. Hoping it gets a upgrade to 3.5, hear it runs SO much smoother

    Katlinga :)
I still have both phones, and I much prefer Amaze. EVen battery life is a bit better than Sensation, seriously. Amaze doesn't leave terrible film on the screen and is better to look at the screen in broad daylight. Still, Sensation is a great phone.

I just did some testing on my Sensation using beta ICS, pure AOSP via TripnRaver. The secret of dual-cores is the secondary core will only be engaged when first is overloaded with requests. Otherwise it is NOT even enabled (tested and verified with System Tuner Pro). Under GB and below there is no real benefit to dual-core processors. I enabled secondary CPU on Sensation running GB and ICS beta and the tests were consistently slightly below what single core-enabled test gave me.
ICS when fully functioning is promised to have full and intelligent use of dual core cpus.. Let's wait and see what the latest from Android OS is going to do to our phones, and it is truly going to be - Amazing!

Things that keep from getting Nexus Prime vs Amaze - no external SD card (this one really sucks for me); plasticy built - hello Samsung!, Amaze's 1.5ghz cpu (somewhat better) plus 42hsdpa speed - potentially, better camera on Amaze - supposedly.
But the biggest draw back to Galaxy Nexus - the size. It's just too big for a phone.
