Root Most up-to-date, easy to follow rooting instructions for first-timer?

Hi,

I've been reading on here for the last month or so (lurking mostly, until I got my TB a little over a week ago!), and I am very strongly considering rooting. In fact, I'm probably going to do it.

I looked a few pages back on this topic, and havent found an easy to read/follow instruction for rooting that I am certain is new. I've perused some stuff linked from here on AndroidCentral and Android Police, but whatever I found didnt seem very explicitly explained.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd be interested in directions for un-rooting of the same kind of quality as well. Gotta know for sure what I'm getting into. ;)

I appreciate y'all's help! This board is the reason I ended up going for it and getting my first ever Droid!

It's the best phone I've had so far, but I just know it can be way better without the bloatware and with a little more tweaking.

Thanks!

and there is an unroot guide as well. It was posted in full by the android police. But Jcase reposted it on xda and keeps it up to date with current firmwares.

This. I followed the manual root method and had the XDA post up, the Android Police guide and the tutorial videos that go along with the Android Police guide. Definitely watch the videos full through before trying to root. The XDA post has the update with the new radios so I used that download.

Just want to say - ditto. Followed exactly that process and was successful in rooting. The video helps a lot, and being able to copy/paste the commands makes it almost fool-proof. :D

followed Android Police instructions with the videos on youtube. Some tense moments in the beginning with setting up adb on my Win7 desktop, but it worked!

I'm now Stock Rooted!
