    Hi All,

I recently bought a Moto One Action that was unlocked. I was trying to configure it but messed it up so I reset the phone and now the boot-loader is locked and greyed out in developer options. I have not installed a sim card yet as I want to get it configured first. I can't connect to my wifi router (Message comes back "Not in range" and I'm right next to it.

Don't know what to do. I went to Motorola to get an unlock code but don't know enough about the command prompts to find it.

    Please Help.

How exactly did you attempt to connect to Wi-Fi?
Did you try resetting the router itself?
Did you try connecting via the WPS button push?
Did you try connecting to Wi-Fi anywhere else?

What was the purpose of resetting the device?
Did you only reboot the device, or did you do a factory reset?
A factory reset will put the device back into whatever state it was originally manufactured- therefore if it was not an unlocked device to begin with, it will be now- unless you can get it unlocked all over again.

At this point, although in my book it is a bit dishonest, you may try just returning it to get your money back, get another one (maybe even on exchange), and really examine your reasons for wanting to root it.

Try this guide. Just don't use any of the image file downloads.

    I t
I think he may have tried bypassing the olde school Carrier Sim Locking.. but that only works properly with a brand new device (straight outta the box)..

I am not aware- I just yank the SIM if the device is used only on Wi-Fi.

Yeah.. basically the way it was for a short time (until Motorola caught on) is that you open the box, remove Sim before 1st boot, power on & unlock bootloader, flash TWRP & custom ROM, insert desired Carrier Sim, do 1st ROM boot with Sim, and setup. Done. Was no waiting 30-60-90 days for Carrier unlock or anything when using this method. Now if ya booted 1st with any kind of data connection with original Sim, it got Carrier locked and you had to wait the required time to have unlocked
