According to this converstaion the user had with Moto tech support, the latest leak is legit (from Moto), though it may not be Final GB version:

Check it out here (post #74):
    https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/47597?start=60&tstart=0

or here (I made it a little easier to read, and bolded the important part):

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AJabonete: Hi, my name is AJabonete. How may I help you?

Matt Freeman: My Droid X updated a week or so ago to the new version of android 2.3 over the air. I would like to revert it back to the android 2.2.1 version. How do I do this?

AJabonete: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. But you have to send it back for an evaluation and repair.

Matt Freeman: why do I have to send it back?

Matt Freeman: Couldn't you walk me through the process?

AJabonete: Yes, you have to send it back for our Repair team to re-flash it the software. There is no option or settings on the ph for it. Only our Repair team will be able to do that. Sorry.

Communication with the RightNow Chat service has been lost. Please wait while attempts are made to restore the connection. Disconnection in 240 seconds. Connection resumed.

AJabonete: I could schedule your phone for repair, or since you provided your email address, I can send you the instructions to schedule your phone for repair at your own convenience. This will also allow you to track your phone's repair status.

Matt Freeman: does this cost money? how long would this take?

AJabonete: Sending the phone back for repair will be in your own expense to mail it back. But, sending it back to you will be be covered by us. The timeframe for repair is 5 to 7 business days from the time we receive the phone.

Matt Freeman: does the reflashing cost me anything?

AJabonete: No, I would like to inform you that most Motorola phones have a standard one year warranty starting from the date of purchase barring physical and liquid damage.

Matt Freeman: can you confirm if the android update I received is legitimate?

    AJabonete: Yes it is Matt.

Matt Freeman: how can i report issues about my experience with it?

AJabonete: You can go to our Android Support Forums on line as well. Here is the link: https://supportforums.motorola.com/index.jspa

    Matt Freeman: great

AJabonete: So, would you like me to send the email instructions then?

    Matt Freeman: yes

AJabonete: Just check your email inbox with in 30 mins. If you can not see the message in there, try looking for it on your spam bulk or junk mail.

AJabonete: Would there be anything else?

    Matt Freeman: no

AJabonete: If you need any more information get in touch. Thanks from Motorola, bye!

    AJabonete has disconnected.

what gets me is this, he didnt ask for any information on the phone. he basically took matt freemans word that he received an ota without getting any information on the system specs. kinda confusing if you ask me, so we dont really know what version of android this guy was really on

What's the point? I'm on leaked GB and could care less about a OTA for it at this point.

Oh, sheesh. I don't think people understand that first level tech support generally knows almost nothing about the company goings-on.

This is about as legit as my saying it.

It could be a standard "any stock android phone that receives an over the air update is legitimate" thing. And since you're calling the official tech support, they're going to assume it's stock, because they don't support anything else (and thus it doesn't exist)

i thought we already stated that it was legit....Legit in the sense that it's a signed build by Moto. Anything can be Legit if you word things right.

We assumed it was legit, and made sense that it's legit, but never any acknowledgment until now from Moto.......even though it could be as sonofaresiii said, just standard policy to say it's legit because the user said it was received as an OTA.

I'm will to bet if he told the guy he would just use RSD and the SBF to flash it himself that guy would have absolutely no clue wtf he was talking about.
he was probably reading fix-it directions off of a yes-no prompt screen lol

If I were Matt I would've said, "Does this mean that the Clockwork Recovery Mod may not work even if the 'net hackers root this version?"

But, of course, that would've been in a foreign language to first-tier tech support.

What you just said "I'm on leaked GB and could care less about a OTA for it at this point" means you do care. I think what you mean is "I couldn't care less" which means you do no care at all. Just saying.

It's a person in India working in a call center reading scripted responses. I doubt she has knowledge of any 2.3 test leak.

We all know that the leak is "legit" as in it was signed by Motorola. Can't get a signed release any other way.

But this conversation smacks of clueless customer service rep answering questions right off a prepared list, like most CSRs. Certainly nothing in that exchange leads one to believe that the OTA is official, actually happened in OTA form, or that . It will be official when Verizon says so.

Nothing to see here folks, move along.

there wasn't really much to assume...it came to a phone OTA...and it could be applied through stock recovery as an update.zip...

there is absolutely NO WAY that it can install through stock recovery unless it is signed by Motorola...

Maybe he does care, but only a little bit, so when he says "I could care less," maybe he's being literally truthful-- he COULD care less, but not by much.
