The photon must not really be selling well. Moto had a contest on there facebook page where they were giving them away and on another site (forgot which one) had another contest that were giving them away and with a phone with decent specs the price just dropped not long after it's release. Kind of makes you wonder.
Prices for pretty much all phones drop quickly at 3rd party retail stores. You'll notice that the Photon is still $199 at Sprint stores and online. And as far as giving them away, that's also done routinely.
I don't know how well the Photon is selling--good or bad--but these two things aren't really indicators.
I'm looking forward to it. I'm a US Cellular user and I've been lurking here following the Photon thread to know what to expect out of the Electrify.
I would be surprised if it was selling poorly. The price has dropped on some other recent Sprint releases, such as the EVO 3D. There was a contest out for quite awhile when HTC was giving away a 3D a day.
I just moved from the 3D and I love this phone. I hope they continue to support with updates...etc.
The Motorola Photon 4G release date was August 2011. Features and Specs include a 4.3" inch screen, 8MP camera, 1GB RAM, Nvidia Tegra 2 AP20H processor, and 1700mAh battery.
