I just saw this on Android News. Love that Virgin is getting more great phones and not locking them down with stuipid custom UIs. I love my optimus but it would be nice to have a faster processor and larger screen!

Yeah the closer to stock Android the better. I'm getting it. My son will have to settle for my Optimus.

AWESOME!!!! I just hope Virgin Mobile has sorted out the data issues, because it was hell the first couple of months with the Optimus, it was only until recently that I haven't had anymore problems. (knock on wood)

Not to worry. The old Droid X is very similar but with better specs (4.3" versus 4.1" screen, 1540 mAh versus 1400 mAh battery, 854x480 versus 800x400 resolution, 8mp versus 5mp camera, etc.) and retailed for $569 with no contract ($199 with a Verizon contract) when it came out almost exactly one year ago.

Now the ones in mint condition sell for $150 or $200 on eBay and brand new ones go for around $300 unlocked since the technology is now a year older.

So if my comparison with the superior Droid X is good, the Triumph (which I anticipate buying!) should sell for around $249.99 or perhaps $275. No way that it finds itself in the $3XX realm, IMO. Irregardless of the Droid X comparison at $300, a pricetag such as that would pretty much price itself out of the prepaid market anyway (except among extreme enthusiasts, such as those frequenting this site).

Yeah I was kinda thinking if it was priced too high it kinda defeats the purpose of the prepaid concept being cheap-ish lol

Think about this if you buy it at 300 your still saving alot. The non prepaid carriers are gonna charge about the same price as well as tie you into there service and make you pay a 200 or 300 fee to get out or make you pay out the ass in monthly charges for unlimited data and so fourth. It's still a good price for the phone if it performs like they say it does.
Only thing I'm worried about is whether it's gonna get updates to icecream and whether it's gonna have an unlocked bootloader. I don't know how many people remember the i1 on boost mobile. it came out with an outdated os 1.5 and never got any support beyond that and then on top of that it was so locked down (and $399 pricetag) no devs really could mess with it so it was just screwed.

exactly. This phone is a no-brainer for me and unless it has a stupid high price I will be bailing on my Verizon contract to switch to it. It is still worth paying the ETF.
    Here's my thinking.

Verizon's ETF is $350 minus $10 for every month of your contract you pay. So in my case my contract is up in December of this year so if I cancel in July my pro-rated ETF is $150.

Now, my plan is already pretty cheap (as far as verizon plans go) At $76 a month (including fees and taxes and my 20% discount through my employer). The $25/mo plan will work perfectly for me since I hardly ever use my voice minutes so 300 is more than enough. So, lets say I cancel my account in July, I pay $150 to verizon, but each month I save almost $50 (I know there is tax on the $25 virgin plan, but lets call it $75 - 25 or a $50 savings just to make it easy).
So by NOT paying verizon for the months of july through december I save $250. So even with the $150 ETF I come out $100 ahead.

Even if the phone costs me $300 the money saved over verizon will pay for that phone in 6 months... and I was planning to buy a new phone from verizon ANYWAY in december at a cost of probably $200 w/ a contract renewal (my Droid 1 is getting long in the tooth).

There's really no way to lose... actualy, the longer I wait to cancel my verizon plan the more money I lose :) Kinda silly, huh?

I found a way around that, I had that happen too but I would just turn my airplane mode on for a 30 seconds and then turn it off and it worked fine.

lo0ks like we will be able to run some decent apps and games on this phone,i took special notice to the GPU,here's some info on it.

    --------
    Adreno 205

Adreno 205 is a relatively new GPU - Qualcomm has been sampling it since June 2010. It is included as part of Snapdragon 1.3GHz QSD8x50A, 800MHz MSM7x30 or 1GHz MSM8x55.

    ..........

Now everyone knows that HTC G2 (also known as HTC Vision, HTC Vanguard, HTC G1 Blaze and HTC Desire Z) will be the first phone to feature Snapdragon MSM7230 chipset which uses Adreno 205. Other phones to use Adreno 205 includes HTC Desire HD, HTC myTouch HD, and HTC Merge/Lexikon.

    Adreno 205 features:

    • Hardware-accelerated SVG and Adobe Flash
