Hey guys, Seasons greetings to you all. I just want to say AF is the best. I learned everything i know about Android here. Thanks to all the Devs and Mods and especially the Noobs. You ask the questions I'm afraid to ask .
So here is the issue with me. Just ordered my Esteem from wirefly and i want to give my rooted Optimus M to my son with all current apps minus my gmail account and phone number number. How to correctly do this when i transfer my number to my Esteem without losing everything on the optimus M. should i just back up everything un-root and then re root, after i transfer his number over from his Ascend. ...and there's my noob question:(. If all goes correct i should have my Esteem by Friday. Again, much thanks to the community.

Do you have a recovery on the opt m?

If I misunderstand your question, I'm sorry.
But if you want to backup any apps, you can use Titanium Backup. This will save the app and data (useful for games) to your SD card.
If you want to remove your gmail account, you'll have to do a factory reset. This will remove all your account information, and installed apps.

use root uninstaller to do a back up than do a factory rest that is what i did when i wanted to keep all my apps but wanted to change my email it makes a backup off all the apps that you have installed

No recovery on it. I originally rooted with z4root. I have Titanium Backup and root explorer. Using Android version 2.2. I don't want to lose power amp which works great. thanks for your reply.

Hey guys, I finally got my Esteem from Wirefly yesterday. i ordered before January 1st so i got it for the $249:D. I rooted this morning using one click root link i found on the forum. I was really scared about bricking but it worked:p. i really am in debt to you guys.I'm on ZVB and I've heard people had their hanset updated OTA and lost root. How can i prevent that? Which is the best recovery rom to install? Hit me back when you can. I got the Verizon REV's case for it because I couldn't get a decent Trident. Amazons sold out.

I also switched from optimus m last month and i love the esteem, but I prefer the cwm recovery you could have downloaded the recovery and installed it seeing how it has root+ recovery. I'm just more familiar with it I used it on my optimus m unofficial with flash image or sumin like that but it was worth the wait for it thanks to the devs our phone is steadily improving
