My LG Optimus L9 on 4.1.2 (Jellybean) records lovely video. The problem is that when I transfer the MP4 video to my Win7 PC the video is sideways (wrong orientation).

If it were AVI format then Windows Media Player could rotate without a problem. But with MP4 I then have to import to Windows Movie Maker to then rotate the video, and this is a huge Pain in my ASS and waste of time.

The curious thing is that I'm recording video with the phone in vertical position so not sure if I need to flip phone horizontally for video to be correctly orientated? If so which damned side do I need to flip it?

How are others getting around this problem?

    Thanks.

wrong orientation is a condition we will call it. the phone display will flip it around when you turn your phone.

i upload mine to youtube and their software will correct a bunch of stuff and then i download it. or i just mark everything private and shoot somebody a link to it.

Hold your phone with the top towards your left hand and the video will come out in a normal wide screen format.

Hold it with the top to your right and it will appear upside down, depending on phone of course.

"new optimus" has it right. Just have to hold top to left and I get widescreen format mp4 video & no longer have to rotate when I copy to Windows.

    What a glorious day!

I have been recording videos in the portrait position and my computer wants to play them sideways. I have rotated them but now when they play they are smashed making everyone look fat and squatty aaaannnnddd...the videos play back choppy. I have played them back in a few differend programs. I need help rotating them so that they are in the right proportion and smooth.
I have a Note 3 and Windows XP

Don't record in portrait, have you ever seen a TV, movie screen or computer monitor in portrait? Video recorded this way is horrible. Just turn your device 90 degrees and you're good.

Try VLC player. If you are still in trouble, try iDealshare Rotator.
