    Hi all,

I've had my new GNex (Verizon) for almost a week now. I'm interested in getting some accessories, planning on picking up the extended battery tomorrow. I haven't seen a version of the multimedia dock for Verizon as of yet though on any site. Anyone have any clue as to why that is?

VZW pre-release info said that a vertical dock will be avail in January 2012.

How bout the horizontal like the rest of the world? ;)

Nothing from VZW. I can't find the images that said Jan for it, but it looks similar to the first video here:

Official Samsung Galaxy Nexus accessories go on preorder - GSMArena.com news

Unknown what they will neuter it with.

I want the car dock with charging pins active on the side, or usb charging active. I also want a horizontal dock, with HDMI and/or at least a speaker out.

the gsm model is so similar(.5mm), i would almost guarantee the verizon model will fit with a little persuasion

As listed in another thread, here is a link to a horizontal dock for Nexus:

Samsung Multimedia Dock for Galaxy Nexus (I515) in Black at MobileCityOnline.com

    It's a pre-order with estimated delivery date of tomorrow, 12/21 (my 21st anniversary! :D ).

While I can't vouch for the media dock fitting a Nexus with an extended battery, I have HIGH HOPES as the Verizon car dock does accept Nexus with the extended battery.

EDIT: Plus the fact that the extended battery only adds 0.5mm thickness to the phone, I am very optimistic that it'll fit :)

I just want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket...

That said, I'm all over a horizontal dock, but would rather it not be blinged out with ports and speakers - just plain old alarm clock usage with charging capability

It shows a horizontal dock, but the description is for the multimedia one with HDMI out (which as I understand is a vertical one). So the question is which one is it?

If you want a hdmi out it needs to use the usb port, not the pins. So it would likely be a vertical dock. Personally I like the vertical dock, but I only need charging. Most apps and the stock launcher don't work in horizontal mode.

Here is the multimedia dock, but it looks like it won't be released until late February.

Hopefully the aftermarket picks up soon.

It's possible this could be a previously unannounced dock. Horizontal and HDMI. It'd make sense considering that this hasn't been released yet despite being compatible with the GSM version.

Looks like they have pushed the release date to January 3rd, 2012. Tsk, tsk... the dock is a highly sought-after accessory and should have been available before or at launch. Oh wait, launch was a moving target...

Does anyone have this dock? Does it work with the Galaxy Nexus, I wonder?

Why would it? Its a Nexus S dock. The GNex dock should make use of the Pogo Pins

If it fit the Nex I'd be open to it, actually. To use the pins I'd have to pop the case off all the time. I really just want a dock, I don't care how it charges. Does anyone know how far down the Nexus S port is as opposed to the Nexus? Hard to tell if it'd work, otherwise.

...because I didn't know if there was any inter-device compatibility with Samsung is why I ask.

OK, I'm confused. Since the pogo pins are on the same side as the power button, how would you turn the display on/off while in the dock? Are we stuck having the screen on the entire time it's docked? That would suck for me at night, when I actually use the dock.

Not sure if this is how it would work but it seems like if you simply tapped down the side facing up it should trigger power on/off.

I dont think screen brightness will be an issue. If you open the clock app (which I'm assuming would be used while in the dock) and press the screen it dims the screen nicely. And you can long press the screen to change it to a nice dark blue. :)

MobileCityOnline still shows January 3rd as a release date. Nothing yet on Amazon.
