    Hello,

I often download songs from Youtube using Youtube to MP3 converter sites. This has never been a problem before and all songs worked on my phone. However, since some time, my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3 NEO) doesn't seem to support some songs. It doesn't matter from which site I download these songs, and the bitrate is the same as the ones I downloaded before (the ones that work). I tried different bitrates, too, but no difference. I at first thought it might for some reason be my SD card acting up, so I copied some of them to my phone storage. Same problem, it doesn't play them. I even did a factory reset (TWICE), before that cleared the cache of the music player (the standard one that the phone comes with), tried different music players which I downloaded (all had the same result, those songs STILL didn't work)... I'm out of ideas...

Someone, please help. I just want to play my music while I'm away :(

Unless you are paying for the music you are getting from youtube, the files that won't play likely have a piracy protection encryption.

As I said before, they have never been a problem before. Also, music that is piracy protected, can't even be converted into an mp3. You can try whatever they like, but no site will do it, ever. So that is definitely not the problem.

I have to think your problem is with the files and not the device or player. Perhaps you can find a different legitimate source for your files. I wish I had more to offer.

Well, some music simply can't be bought, cause it's not buyable anywhere... I checked my files again and the ones that work and the ones that don't work look the exact same, so I'm out of ideas D:

I found a thing tho. For some reason some songs seem to have a blocking on them for some reason. I removed it from some of those songs, and I'm gonna try to play them again. No clue why some of them have it, and some of them don't, cause they have been downloaded from the same site, but I'll try that, and update ^^

So, I tried removing this special blocking, and the files still won't play. I'm out of ideas now.

Simply because there are utilities that allow you to bypass DRM-protected content does not mean it's legal to do so. Youtube has a varied mix of licensed, copyrighted content and unencumbered Creative Commons content. But whichever the case when a performing artist or a hobbyist posts videos that are not meant to be pirated, the rest of us are expected to comply. Some artists actively want and encourage others to view and download their efforts, but a lot do not. They see Youtube as a way to share their work with their fans, but not necessarily as a way to give everything way for free. If there are songs you can't or won't purchase elsewhere, you could just accept that fact and do without. Or at least accept that if you're having problems playing songs you've just downloaded for free, sometimes it's just not going to work out the way you want.

Seriously, I am not asking here for people to judge me. I just want people to think along.

This site is not supportive of illegal activities. Piracy of copyrighted materials is illegal. If you are gathering your files in a legal fashion, I do not know how to help you.... I'm sorry. If you are gathering them illegally, I will not help. I'm sorry we have offered zero assistance.

The solution to the problem would be to officially download it through google play store usually under the video if it is from an official source on youtube - if you are using third party sites it is almost certain you are participating whether knowingly or unknowingly in illegal activities for which you should cease what you are doing. The problem is highly likely to be the method of encoding the music file for which may not be supported by the player - and most likely a response to fighting piracy.

Seems that a proper response to my actual question will never come... I give up.

It's not that you didn't get any 'proper responses' as you did, it's just that none were what you want to read. There are forums that openly discuss pirating media content, you'd probably have more in common in those realms than here.

Listen here. Illegal or not, dude. I know that. The only thing I am asking for is a person whinking along with me. Cause no one else seems to know what is going on, this is the very last place that I think people might have an answer.

As I read this thread, you were given an answer. An answer you did not want to hear. You cannot make the player play files with DRM that were pirated. That's the answer.

My dad was asking me about this yesterday, some songs he downloaded (pirated) from YouTube won't play. And I'm sure it's something YouTube have done, DRM copyright protection, you can stream, but NOT download or rip on certain videos.

I'm in the UK this week, on holiday, and have been trying to sort out the family tech issues. :)

if that would be it, how can it be that one file from a certain channel works like a charm, and the other from the same channel doesn't? hm? explain me that. cause obviously that doesn't make sense whatsoever. cause then not a single file would be able to be played.

I found a program that somehow fixed all my problems. It's called "Free Youtube To Mp3 Converter 4.1.1". Maybe your dad could give it a try, and see if it works for him? Seems these programs convert the files another way than sites do. No idea why the sites for some reason couldn't convert all the files the same or something, but atleast this fixed it, for as far as I know.
