Just got a Droid 2 for my GF, I have the OG Droid, so I generally know what's going on.

I was showing her how to add music to her phone from the PC (simple right, drag and drop, somehow this was difficult for her:rolleyes:). When she went to the default music player, a message came up, something like "file not supported." Now these were just your standard .mp3 files. I rebooted the phone, this seemed to help a little bit. Now 4 out of 5 times she tries to play a song it works. On that rare 5th occasion, the phone says the file type is not supported.

Wondering if you guys have any thoughts on why this might be happening. Faulty SD card maybe? I don't think it is the music files themselves being corrupted, as I've tested them on my Droid and as I said they work most of the time on her D2.

I had the same issue but it seemed to be fixed after a full power cycle. I also had an issue where I put it on party shuffle and it just kept repeating 5 songs even though I have about 6gb of music on it. Are there better music players that I can download?

@meek: MP3 files can get corrupted if the transfer process hiccups. Pay attention to which files do, and see if there are any patterns.

@Super: Run a search for music player on the Market and look at ratings/comments. That's your best shot at finding a good fit for you.

So now the song that I had as my ringtone is no longer working. It still shows as being my ringtone but I get a standard type tone instead. When I go to play the file in the music player it says file is not supported. The song works on my computer, even when played from the SD card. Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into this further.

Off topic, but I'm in Pittsburgh too. Good to see a friendly face in the forums. Awesome that Pittsburgh is the birthplace/hotbed of android hacking!

My wife is having the exact same issues on her Droid 2. The music player won't work, her Google voice playback won't work, and she can't change any of her ringtones. It's been working great till a few days ago, what the hell is going on? Tried both a hard and multiple soft resets, nothing worked.

Interestingly my HTC incredible is having trouble with ringtones and her friends Droid x is as well in the last week.

With Google having offices in the Burgh, there's quite the community of Android users.

Im' using mixzing premium and over the last 2 days i've had to power cycle my phone to get mp3's to play. Give me an error opening file message. Rebooting the phone solves it for about a day or so. Did try on the stock music player and got same error.

I am having the same issue. I can't seem to figure out what is causing it. Sometimes the music plays fine, and then other times I just keep getting an error.

I removed subdirectories in the music folder, so far so good, but it wasn't a real consistent error

Hello! I just got my droid Sunday. I copied one song to my droid 2 and set it as my ringtone. It worked for 2 days, and then I started to get an error that it isn't supported. I deleted the song, recopied it, and it didn't work. I've tried other songs, and it isn't working. These play on my computer and mp3 players. How do I fix this? Please help!

I've been having another problem with the music player. While playing songs, it will randomly freeze my entire phone until my droid 2 eventually restarts. Any tips? thats

I have the same problem on my droid2. It happens on both the music player that comes standard and doubletwist which I downloaded. About 1 a week, none of the music will play all giving the file not supported error. When this happens it also messes any ring tones that were mp3 files. The only thing to fix it that I've found is to take the battery out. Its really frustrating. It doesn't happen on just certain MP3 files. After putting the battery back in, all plays fine. I would love to know what the cause is to be able to resolve it. It is a pain to take the battery out. Anybody with better answers? Thanks.

From what i had heard and read, I thought it was a 2.2 problem more than anything. I also downloaded doubletwist and, knock on wood, I have not had any problems whatsoever....so far. I also thought a fix was supposed to be being worked on and should come down in one of those maintenance updates that should be coming SOON lol. It really isnt an answer, but may or may not be useful info.

hmmm, I am having a problem on my D2G with the music player. It is stock but it basically will play a song for so long (first song) and then it just stops playing all together...

I'll try the battery pull and maybe a different player I am searching for all of my issues before I start reporting in new threads but, I also wonder since I have a Global, are there little differences that might make D2 solutions unapplicable...

    Thanks,
