Are there any new phones on the Verizon horizon? My brother needs a new phone and I think the Nexus is a good choice, but I was wondering if there were any other releases to wait for.

Nexus suffers weak radio. S3, the current MAXX or the upcoming RAZR HD would be the best bets.

Yeah and nightly CM 10 releases and Imo's Lean kernel.

Honestly, I'd wait for the Note 2, Next Nexus, or Razr HD if it has an unlockable bootloader. Does he tinker or mess around with his phone a lot? If not, get him a RAZR MAXX, those things get crazy good battery life and seem like a killer phone. Come to think of it, the RAZR MAXX doesn't have any real flaws other than lack of timely updates.
