My contacts dont have names in messaging

I imported all my facebook friends to my sidekick 4g and it is all perfect in the contacts app but when i go to the messaging app and start to type in their name it doesn't show up. If one of these contacts that I imported texts me it just says their number even though i have the same number and name in my contacts. How can i fix this? Thanks
