Ok so I got my Eris about a week ago...I was having the awake time issue and major battery issues. I went on vacation to California on Wednesday night and I let my phone completely die on Thursday night and I charged it. I woke up Friday and it wouldn't connect to the verizon network. I tried everything I could and got nothing.

So I brought it into Verizon and they had no idea what the problem was so they replaced it with a brand new phone. I don't know what the issue was but it was kind of a blessing in disguise because I got a brand new phone and I got the free phone for buying one within the last 30 days. Also now neither of the 2 new phones have the awake time issue and seem to have way better battery life.

When you got the extra Eris phone did you have to activate it with a data plan?

yeah it's the same mms issues that plagued the sprint hero but more hit or miss with the eris. but glad to hear the new phone is working better for you. I feel android has great room for getting better. i owned a G1 before my Eris and with every patch htc has put out things get better. Android is still the new kid on the block so things still need to be worked out but all in all it's a fine os for just starting out of nothing.

^You do have to have data on each smartphone.

I had to add another line..What I did was added another line to get the free Eris but I replaced the Eris with an old verizon phone that doesn't need a data package and I gave the Eris to my girlfriend because she has a seperate account and wasn't eligible to upgrade herself so she just placed the free Eris I got on hers and added a data package :).
