I have an HTC One VX that I've been using on StraightTalk (recently ended my contract with AT&T). My friend spilled chocolate milk all over my things today, including my phone, and now I'm having some serious problems. For the first hour, it was in headphone mode (still is, but there are more problems), even though I didn't have headphones in (this also means I couldn't hear anyone in phone calls or anything). Then my phone started refusing phone calls altogether, or getting them so delayed I'd already missed them. Then my phone screen started going crazy, activating the voice command app so constantly I'd close it, it would open again and open something else, even if the room is silent, and it would just do it over and over. Now my phone's making notification noises constantly without notifications. At first I wanted to know how to fix the headphone problem..but now I need to know if I can fix ALL the problems? :(

I'm a poor college student and I definitely can't afford another phone. I just spent $400 on books.

First thing: turn it off and remove the battery (if it's removable). If there is moisture in there and it is still powered up that is likely to increase the damage.

Generally if it was water I'd say to try drying it thoroughly for a couple of days before powering up again, then see what still works. And by that I mean drying with a dessicant (uncooked rice is the cheapest - put a phone in a jar of the stuff, with the back off ans battery removed if possible) not using heat, hair dryers etc. But in this case it's not even clean water, so if at all possible you should try to clean it, e.g. washing in lab alcohol (not drinking stuff!) to remove what muck and sugar you can, then let it dry.

After that it's a matter of how much damage has been done. Moisture damage is insidious, so I cannot promise that this is fixable. Can only hope.

We have some advice for these situations here: http://androidforums.com/faqs/815124-so-you-got-your-phone-wet-what-can-you-do-try-save.html

I too am searching for answers for this issue. I think my droid turbo is built more durable, but not sure if so with all drinks. I got milk on my speakers. When I talk on the phone I can hear them normally. But now when it rings it is not as loud. I have tried to let it dry out on its own, and today I tried to use my hairdryer on cool. So I know that rice works on water and I am not sure it would work on milk.

This is helpful information, but do you have a newer updated link for information that isn't two years old?

I don't think the physics or chemistry of water damage have changed much in the last 2 years ;)

Good luck with the ringer. I remember that the first waterproof Sony's deliberately reduced the volume if the speaker membrane was wet, but I doubt that's true for a model that wasn't explicitly IP rated. Hopefully when it dries it will recover its volume.
