    hi,
I am Pallab, a Soft Engineer by professsion.
Let me introduce myself. I am an iphone user and got bit bore as I have come to know lot of limitations on iphone what apple restricted. It is somehow I can't accept while come to know that I can't transfer my photos over bluetooth device. I was also getting attracted by android phones gradually. Finally I bought an Android phone : Samsung Galaxy from ebay.
Now would like to remove the existing gmail a/c from the prvious owner but it is not letting me to do it as it is saying that some other applications are holding it. How do I get rid of the old gmail A/c previously synched without removing the associated applications. Appreciate if anybody help me in this regard.
    loads of thanks in advance.

You have to do a hard reset on the phone because right now, the phone is set for him only.

You will end up loosing any programs that he had installed on the phone.

Once you do that than you can have the phone set for you. It does require you to get Gmail though if you don't have it already.

Unfortunately a factory data reset is likely the only way to get rid of the previous owners Gmail account.

    Thanks for your valuable suggestions.
The earlier owner has bought the Word, Excel & Powerpoint and thee are installed here which he has passed on to me. I believe the hard reset i.e. factory reset will remove these word, excel & powerpoint alogn with other apps. What is the solution to protect them ? Can I take backup of them and reinstall once I do the facory reset though I don't know where are these installed ?
    Thanks in advance.

The license that goes along with that app is tied to the existing Gmail user info. As soon as you remove that account info you'll lose the license to use that app.
