My location reverts to home when not on wifi

I have been trying to use my Galaxy to navigate around a city away from home. Whenever I am connected to wifi, I am able to search for directions using google maps perfectly, from wherever I am. However, whenever I connect to the network directly, any directions I am given are directly from my 'home' on google, 300 miles from where I am, not from my current location. This is despite the fact that it clearly knows where I am, as the blue gps dot showing my current location is correct.

Has anyone encountered this?

Any ideas how to fix it?
