my phone doesn't recongnize my headphones

my phone doesn't recognize my headphones on my HTC S.

Help!

Try different headphones. If it doesn't recognize them, it's a defective headphone jack. If it does, it could be defective headphones, or a type of headphone that the phone can't recognize.
