Help my phone keeps opening the stock gallery app that comes with it.

My Kyocera hydro always pops up with the message box that ask me what app I want to use with things in the browser and I accidentally picked the stock gallery app that comes with all Androids as the default app to open for videos formats and I have cleared the app defaults for the stock gallery app but it still automatically opens the galley video player please help me fix this because I would like to use a different app instead of the stock gallery app. I have also tried freezing the app with an app freezing app but it still doesn't work it opens the stock gallery app anyways. The last thing I tried was downloading an app for clearing defualts even though my setting say I have already cleared the defaults. Neither of these work it opens the stock gallery app even though I froze it and the clearing defaults app only gives me the option to clear the launcher defaults. I have had my phone rooted for a while now before the issue.

Are you sure your stock video player isn't a different app from the gallery app? That would be the simplest explanation for these symptoms.

Yes I am positive. I literally just went to settings>apps>all then checked all my apps for the clear defaults option to be clickable the only thing that gave me the options to clear defaults was the launcher.
