It takes about 3 minutes from the time I press the power button to the home screen to fully load. Is this normal?

I bought it new and its been like this since I bought it. Is there anything to speed it up? Its not a big deal, its just kind of annoying. I had a blackberry before this and it took no more than 30 seconds to turn on so I figured the same for an android phone. Thanks

Welcome to the more intense smart phones. The more they become small computers themselves the more time it takes to boot up!

Yep, that's pretty much the norm. You no longer have a phone with data features, you now have a mini-laptop with voice features. Think of it that way, and everything you experience as you make this transition will make more sense.

Kind of like watching water boil if you're sitting there watching the loading screen. I usually turn on my phone when I wake up then take a shower, so I don't notice how long it takes. I do think about it while I'm cooking breakfast or in the shower though.

I wasn't sure how long my startup time was, so I just tested it. Running 2.1 with DamageControl 2.08.1, it took 2 min's and 50 seconds until I could use the phone after booting it.

3 minutes sounds FAST to me... lol. Takes me about 3 min to get to the home screen, then another 1-2 to load all my widgets/shortcuts.
