Over the last few days Google Latitude is repeatedly putting me in West Bromwich, which is about 50 miles from where I actually am. Even when I have GPS and get it to my correct location, it switches back to West Bromwich, which is a place I have never been to. I am using a HTC Sensation on 3 which was upgraded to ICS a week ago.
Have I been hacked or cloned?
I have changed my Google password but that makes no difference.
Switching my phone off and on again corrected it for a few hours.
Looking at Dashboard I am travelling the 50 miles almost instantly.

50 miles is a bit exstreme:eek: Mine will change at times just being on the opposite side of the street. Have you tried clearing the data and cache from the app itself to see if it corrects it?

If I'm not signed in to GOOGLE on the stock browser, my phone does something similar.

Give that a shot, along w/GBIGGIE's recommendations & keep us posted w/your results.

It could be getting wifi location data, that can be somewhat inaccurate sometimes. For a while my phone's wifi thought it was in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, which is the other end of the country 2000km away.

I've tried clearing the cache and data, and at the moment its in the right location. I saved the .kml file and you can clearly see it switching locations within 1 minute. Not bad for 50 miles!

I've been to West Brom - scary place and I wouldn't want my phone there either. (jk)

My old HTC Incredible had a predilection to move me several thousand miles away for hours at a time before coming to its senses and correctly relocating me back to Cincinnati. Even my current Incredible will have spasms of geographical uncertainty but usually recovers after I force the issue.

I can also get weird situations where my phone knows where I am however the time zone doesn

Checking the location file from overnight I can see it's getting an update from West Bromwich once an hour, until I woke it up at 8:05. I then went to my current location, jumped back to W. Brom and came back here at 8:27. It's still here at 9:10.

Is there a contact at Google as this is looking like my account has been compromised. I changed my password yesterday, but it made no difference.

Probably on the main Google page. Have to get to work but there might be an answer within Google support also. Just an idea:)
