I was on the phone with my cousin today when I suddenly lost the call. Being a long time verizon user this hardly ever occurs in my area. What occurred next was totally unexpected. The phone begun entering letters, jumping through my contact list, pulling addresses from my phone book then searching for them via the map application. It started to call people in my phonebook. I shut the phone off and have yet to turn it back on. Any suggestions or just reboot when this occurs?

Wow sounds like my laptop when I got a nasty malware virus thing and had to completly wipe out everything.

I don't know. Someone who can offer help will drop by to reply.
Man that sounds scary.

Call verizon the same thing happened to me plus excessive reboots. Doing a battery pulled fixed it for me but the constant reboots started to get to me so my second call to verizon is getting me a new X.

That is creepy as hell. It sounds as if someone got control of your phone. Try turning it back on and see if it still occurs. Maybe the turning it off helped?

yeah if cutting it off doesn't work
than pull the battery
if that doesn't work call Verizon.
Let us know what happened and how you fixed it.

So I turned the phone back on and thank goodness it seems to be running ok. I am somewhat concerned over the possibility of several free applications that could have caused this. I could be over exaggerating the situation, but with these phones and the ongoing hacking capabilities you need to be overly cautious.

HHHHHUUUUUMMMM... First post, talking about phone going crazy calling contacts, kinda sounds like what all Isheep say when talking about Android because of its open source and might be open to hackers but hassent been proven yet. Smells like a troll to me. If its real then get your camera and post a vid.

AGREED, smells like a troll to me.

I don't know I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.
I can see someone joining lurking and not posting until help is needed
afterall the phone has only been available to most folks since 07-15-10 not even out for a whole month yet.

I don't know about the trollish assignment.

Big Bru Thanks for the advice! I ran the lookout application and it came back clean. I jumped the gun most likely. If it occurs again I will post.

Really??? r u kidding me:thinking::thinking::thinking:

Bug Bru accused you of being a troll and you r thankful for that.

Actually Matty032 suggested lookout.

Excessive heat and/or sweat could do this. Were you outside in the sun talking on the phone when this happened?

I had this happen to me when I used a pre-packaged hand wipe on my screen. A reboot fixed my Droid X also...

is this in our future?

Happens to me all the time probably from the sweat on yor face just wipe it off Then lockand unlock the screen its not an app or a hacker haha

Same thing happened to me. X went nuts opening programs typing random letters. Pulled the battery to get it to stop .

Now that sounds more realistic even my computer has done that b4 all electric devices spaz out. But entering letters, jumping through my contact list, pulling addresses from my phone book then searching for them via the map application, and calling people in my phonebook! WTF... Sounds like a human hacker. If that was really happening then that would be the biggest news to destory Andoid. Press would have a field day with this. Believe me the hacker would have hit atleast 100 more phones by this time and more post would be out.

I can't believe I'm reading this. Last night I was working and I know I had my phone off. When I pulled it out of my pocket to check any new mail, etc., I had about 6 weird text messages it appeared my phone had sent with all these strange letters, etc. For a moment I thought maybe I didn't turn my phone off and did all this myself just walking around.

But what is also strange is that yesterday my phone started freezing when I would try to read anything in a widget or scroll through a news widget. It had NEVER done that previously. It's like the widget turns a weird yellowish color and I can do nothing until I reboot.

This is my 2nd DX and I hope to goodness I don't have to return this one. Love the phone, but just not sure of the stability of this thing. At this point, it can't touch the Moto Droid. I never had one problem with that phone.

Has anybody else had these freezing problems?
