This guy just keeps making great roms. It's a very nice update. I suggest you try it.
I want to soo bad but i absolutly hate whiping lol
This was the first ROM I tried to flash to my phone. It took off my ROM Manager, and I can't get it (or anything else from the Market) back onto my phone. When I try to download something, the phone just reboots. Now I'm stuck with it, because I can't even flash my recovery image, since ROM Manager won't download.
do you have a nandroid back up? you can always manually go into recovery mode.
I have a backup of some sort. I followed the steps that Matlock posted to root the phone, and before I flashed Warm I made a backup / recovery image. If that's considered a nandroid backup, then yes, I have it. But not sure how to do it manually. I'm pretty new at this stuff, but good at following directions.
Is it available? I am looking on XDA and do not see it
It was made available early for those that donated, but it should be released to the public tonight...as long as he didn't find any issues.
If you already have myn warm installed just hold down the power button like your going to shut off the phone. Go to restart. Then you can select recovery. From that point it will boot into rocovery. Then you can select nandroid backup/restore. After that select your most recent back up and restore it. I would suggest doing that and reflashing the rom. Make sure you WHIPE the device when flashing it. That will clear all conflictions.
Myn will be releasing the RLS3 to the public this evening. Not sure what exact time. Doners that donating already have the update. I'm assuming you have to flash this rom like any other and not an update.
Don't forget the Thanks button
Oh, then maybe I had an earlier version. Dunno, it keeps rebooting when I try to go to the settings > about phone page. This sucks.
Yep...I donated last friday and have been using RLS 3 beta ever since. I love it, and I'm sure the full RLS 3 will be even better. Myn's is the first and only rom I've used since I rooted. I really see no need to try any others. None of the other roms really have anything that appealing to me over Myn's. It's just simple and pretty, runs fast and stable.
If I donate will I get the rom right away?
Any appreciable differences from rl2? I will update anyways and give the guy a few bucks but I'm curious if there is anything noticeable.
Not right away, but the same day from what I've seen. It should be released this evening though. I can tell you it's worth the donation. I've been using his rom since rls1.
I have no problem donating. I mean, he is making my phone worth having, I would hate this thing with the factory setup.
Whats different with RLS3 vs 2?
It's like &^%&**&^ Christmas!!!!
Edit: April, plz read both of my posts here before proceeding to avoid recovering back to the malfunctioning ROM over and over.
And April, are you getting into the manual recovery screen??? If you are on Myn's ROM, hit the power button and one of your choices is "reboot". Select that and then one of your choices will be "Recovery". Select that. Then one of your choices will be "Install zip form SD Card"...select that. On the next screen slect "choose zip from SD Card". Then there will be a long list but select "clockworkmod/". My choices in this folder are only "backup/" and "download/". Select "backup/" In this folder is where you will see all of your backups that you have performed. Select wherever you want to go and you are on your way. Maybe you have done all of this but hope it helps!!!
And if for some reason the only backup you have is the malfunctioning ROM you have on there, I would suggest before you do all of the above, find a stock image on XDA or here and push that from your computer to your SD card and you may be able to recover to that image....although the steps above would be slightly different(ie, they wouldn't be in the "backup" folder". They would likely be on that long list where "clockworkmod" resides along with everything else on your SD Card.
PS...take everything I say with some caution. I am new to this as well but I have a hard time not experimenting!!! If somebody sees an error in my advice, plz point it out.
PSS...and finally, do not be afraid!!!! View this as experience in getting to know your phone. Be patient. I have only been rooted for a couple of weeks and I keep getting to know my phone better and better. Never thought I would be such a geek for a damn phone. I tell ya what, modifying phones is a helluva lot cheaper than modifying cars...which WAS one of my hobbies...
I donate to him and have had the final for about 24hrs. It's great! I didn't think i'd ever leave RLS 2, but.....
The public release is this evening at some point.
Putty, are you able to give us a few highlights?
You must be special
I've been running the rls3 beta since it came out. It rocks. rls2 was great, too. Everything works - 4g, hotspot, wireless tether. From what he says and what I know I have with the beta, it will come the new ota 3.3 software, the new htc stock kernel (#10), he has what's called Warm Updater that works much like Rom Manager, and he has an app called Rosie Settings that allows you to configure the left and right rosie buttons however you want.
So I think the biggest differences between rls2 and rls3 are pretty big - the ota software, the new htc kernel, the Warm Updater and the Rosie setting. I am sure there is lots and lots more but we'll have to wait for the change log.
I don't think any of this is a secret - there is over 600 pages on xda, and most of the past 2 weeks has been about rls3.
Is it bettery to leave the #10 stock kernel or is it like RLS2 to where a custom kernel is needed/suggested?
Slugbug.....you say "Everthing works -4g,etc.". Just to calrify. Are you saying everything works MINUS(as in except) those items....or where you just using the dash sign to break up your sentence????
Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I mean everything such as 4g, hotspot, wireless tether, etc DOES work.
And re: Is it bettery to leave the #10 stock kernel or is it like RLS2 to where a custom kernel is needed/suggested?
His rom included 2 others kernels as flashable zips if you wanted to DL and use them, but the stock kernel worked fine and no other one was "needed". I think he just wanted people to know the other 2 had also been tested and had achieved good results. The Collin battery tweak was always optional. I have had good luck with various kernels when I was on rls2, but none of them were as stable as the new htc stock rom #10. Random rebots, bootloops, etc with other kernels. Not much, but a few times. Some kernels were faster, some gave better battery life, but for my phone and my use I get plenty (all day) out of the stock. I am sure I'll try others again, but not for a while. Can't tell how well a new kernel works til it settles in.
where will we be able to download this at
