MyPhoneExplorer windows app for HTC Android

I just recently got the HTC Desire (my first smart phone) and absolutely inlove with it. My previous phone was a Sony Ericsson W810i. I used to use F.J. Wchselberger's MyPhoneExplorer windows app to sync my addressbook, call history, calendar, sms messages, and more. The cool thing about MyPhoneExplorer windows app was that I could compose a quick message and send the SMS from windows... via the phone. My phone was always USB plugged in at work charging so it was convenient.

Now with my HTC Desire I found that my address book and calendar can be backed up & sync with Google contacts and calendar. That's good, but what about backing up SMS archive?

Also, does anyone know of an equivalent windows app like MyPhoneExplorer but for HTC Desire Android?

I am very eager to start using your MyPhoneExplorer app but I am on a Froyo HTC Incredible Droid and it says wifi not connected. I plugged in a USB cable and still I can't get connected. Is there a bug with the app running on a HTC Incredible?

Thank you.

@andwan0: here are some cool options for getting your SMS notifications on your PC, and with one of them, actually reply! (NOTE: I have not tried these yet).

As for keeping a record of your SMS messages, there are a number of apps available in the market for backing up SMS messages either to your SD card or to Gmail. This is the one I used for my wife's Dream:

The latest version of MyPhoneExplorer works fine with Android! I've been using MyPhoneExplorer for a few days now and it works fine with my (Sprint) HTC Hero running 2.1. Sometimes I have to wait a minute or so after launching the app on my phone before the computer's software sees it.

It actually took me awhile to realize I had to run an app on my phone too. I installed the software on my computer, connected my phone to the Wifi network and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. Guess I should have read the instructions. :p

Yeah, MyPhoneExplorer works great with Android! I just hope it'll support bluetooth any time soon...

I've been using MyPhoneExplorer for a few days now, and it's pretty cool! You can sync to the program on the PC via WiFi or via USB cable. (And if you are using the USB cable, you can enter Debugging mode and take screen shots).

Just remember, you also need to download and install the client on your PC (which you can get form the Dev's web site). There is even a portable version.
