Hi. I'm getting my first Droid next week - a Motorola Bionic. It seems a bit over-the-top for someone new to the Android platform, but I'd like to root it fairly soon after I get it. Two big reasons I'd like to have root access are: removal of Verizon bloatware and the ability to install sweet apps that need elevated privileges.

My idea is to install the latest Motorola drivers on my PC, use Pete Souza

you need to ask this in the subforum of the bionic... that is where you will find more detailed info. and users that have that info.

May I suggest you follow these guides?

    1. I wouldn't be removing the apps. Freezing? Yes. Just get Titanium Backup. If there's a problem, you can put things back with minimal effort.

    2. I've done it myself! And hundreds of others have as well. Don't worry about it too much. If something goes wrong, then you just restore it back to stock with the restoration guide.
