At the top left, what are the little check marks on bar? Also on the power control widget what are the two icons next to bluetooth? Also is there a way to change website shortcuts on the homescreens icon?

I believe you're talking about GPS.

The check marks are usually downloads and apps that are installed.

The checks probably mean you downloaded something. Swipe down from the very top to the bottom and open the Notifications. It will show you what they are.

  5. Well, if you pull down the notification bar, you should be able to see what it is. It will tell you, unless its the GPS, 3g/wifi, then it won't show. The power control widget consists of: Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, Sync, and Brightness. What website shortcut are you talking about?

just a message board that has a mobile version, I made a shortcut to the home screen but the icon is just the bookmark ribbon. I wanted to know if that could be changed.

Also, A few more questions, is there a twitter widget that highlights new tweets? What is the nest news widget? Is there a widget that goes with handcent? My school email uses google apps, but is not @gmail.com I can not figure out how to get it to work with the gmail app, do I have to use mail? I can not get the Facebook app to work, it says an error has occurred while fetching data [null]. Is this a known problem? I have not gotten it to work since I got the phone. Thanks!

Can't answer all of them, but Facebook issue is known. VZW today even said to use the web site directly instead for the time being.
