NatWest banking app - access contacts

I have just purchased an HTC Desire and wanted to add the NatWest banking app. When I go to download it, I have to give permission for 'Read contact data'.

I am rather sensitive about privacy, and wanted to know, why does this app require access to my contact information?

I see its the same for some others such as Lloyds TSB, however the app for Ulster Bank (also part of RBS as is Natwest) doesn't require contacts access. Neither does the UBS one for example (although that includes taking pictures!)
