I am currently using an LG Esteem on MetroPCS which I am happy to get away from now that I am finally back to work. Hence, I seek your advice on a good phone.

I'm going to get a little off track for a sec about battery life. The LG Esteem battery is terrible. If I listen to music on it for 30 minutes while on the BART train, the battery goes down to 60%. Are newer devices going to be pretty much the same thing? Should I be using a separate MP3 player or is that just my phone? I'd like to be able to listen to music for about an hour and a half a day on a single charge if I can.

My biggest decision is whether or not I want to get a Phablet or not. A friend of mine has the Galaxy Note 3 and I fell in love with the screen. The question is what am I giving up for that big screen? From what I have read the Note 3 is a top device even from a battery standpoint.

Another phone that has recently caught my eye is that LG G2. It has a bigger than average screen size and is apparently great on battery life.

The Nexus 5 has my attention as well.

    Anything else I should consider?

    Thanks in advance.

The Note 3 is a great phone, but its very big. So if the size doesn't bother you, you can't go wrong with the Note 3. You can't go wrong with any flagship devices currently available. Moto x Motorola droid's, Htc one, lg g2, S4, s3, Note 2, note 3 Iphone's etc etc are all great devices. Check then out yourselves and make your own decision.

I love the Droid Maxx. Battery life is super awesome! I would recommend looking at that phone.

You should go with Sony Ultra Z1 for durability :) the screen is super large

Samsung Galaxy Mega with a 6.3 inch screen is another option for a phablet.

There is also a 5.8 inch version , but it doesn't have LTE.
