Need help factory resetting

Hey everyone, hope you're doing good.

I have a bit of a situation on my hands. I have a company managed device (my company, don't worry - I'm in IT) that has the standard factory reset blocked via policy and the hard reset of using the power button + volume button does nothing. The splash screen comes up and then instantly disappears and shuts down the tablet rather than going into recovery mode. I can't enable ADB either on the device for a normal PC-driven reset because that's also blocked via policy. I can't remotely reset the device using the device management software either because they can't communicate.

So yeah, I'm at a bit of an impasse. This tablet is just a bit of a paperweight right now and I need to redeploy it.

Any suggestions at all?
Thanks!

That is a pretty limited, old device.
Most likely it was near the end of its useful lifespan.

We don't go into how to bypass any kind of locks or otherwise on this forum.

It sort of sounds like it could be a battery issue, and the device is right around the age for that to happen.

The idea that it just shuts off/down when you are trying to do something is why I am saying this.

Immediately shutting down, that sounds like the battery might be knackered. The Alcatel 1T is coming on for four years old now, and has it been well used in your company?

Not that I'm aware of. These were new additions to the company recently to trial run this software so I reckon they're refurbished at worst. That would explain it but, even plugged into power, it still shuts off. It's super strange because it boots into the OS just fine but whenever I try to access recovery mode, it won't have it.

Just to clarify, it is the 2020 re-release - the 8092 model.

Again, yeah - that makes sense but I've no other symptoms of a bad battery :(

Not much u can do, other than use it as a paperweight......
  • No adb
  • Can't go to recovery mode( are you sure you are doing the button combo correctly?)
  • You would also need USB debugging enabled as well, and I doubt that it was.
........ sorry

Yeah, I have another of the exact same tablet and reset that no problem. That's upsetting. I'll keep trying for fish for a solution and thanks for the reply anyway.
