im new to rooting. i literally just did it.

so im trying to load a cyanogen ROM on but i cant update the radio.
im trying to use this one:
    Radio- - CyanogenMod Forum
its the most updated one but when i download it and check the md5, it doesnt match at all... nevertheless i tried it and when went into HBOOT and let it load, an it said it was the wrong file or something and didnt do anything...

    what am i doing wrong?

    im following these directions:
HTC Incredible: Full Update Guide - CyanogenMod Wiki

also should i be putting a .zip file on my sdcard? or a folder?

ok i got it to work... the md5 sum matches now.

but when i load hboot, it still wont update..
    what should i do?
shoudl i go into clockworkmod recovery and apply the sdcard update?

ok i keep checking the sum and its not right... shoudl i be checking the sum of the .zip? or the sum of radio.img?

im using a mac and i get this sum...

    MD5(/Users/Jeff/Downloads/PB31IMG/radio.img)= 2c42ef9e206ea0bfbc00a249b95c8e3f

    but it should be:

    i dont get it...

is it maybe becuase i have a mac and when i download somethign everythign gets unzipped automatically?
ive downloaded it at least 7 times... all the same sum...

I got a good MD5 from that file but FYI, I'm using the 7.28 radio and hboot 0.77 on CM7 and have zero issues. Been loading since crackflashers source builds up to recent.

If it's getting unzipped, it won't read the MD5 right. The listed MD5 is for the unzipped, raw download. You need to place the unzipped PB31IMG onto the root of the SD card and load through hboot. It should be detected after a few seconds once you are at the bootloader screen. Then you press volume up to load it. Again though, you may not need an upgrade especially if you're not having issues using your current setup.

Unzipped, really?? I'm thinking you meant to say NOT unzipped (or zipped).

Yeah I meant don't unzip it.

did you name the .zip file PB31IMG? It has to be that to work in HBOOT

    yeah its called PB31IMG.zip...

    idk why its not working..
like it scans but then it says somethign about the file being wrong...
    any ideas?

basically step by step, what i did is:
    download the file
    md5 sum matched
    change usb to disk drive
move the PB31IMG.zip file into the sdcard. (the root not in a folder)
eject the incredible and sdcard drives from my computer
    unplug USB
    power off
power on with volume switch down into HBOOT
    wait for scan...
get a message about it being a wrong image...
    what now?

Your SD card needs to be formatted to FAT32 or PB31IMG files won't be properly recognized in hboot. If you decide to do this, don't forget to backup your SD contents first so they can be moved back to the card after the format. You can format with either Windows or Mac while in disk drive mode. Format it as a drive...if Windows I recommend using the full format option rather than the quick format. Right click on drive (i.e. the card) and choose format if Windows. Not sure of the procedure for Mac. Make damn sure you don't inadvertantly format the internal memory instead of the SD card since they both show up as independent drives while in disk drive mode.
