So, the past couple roms i've flashed have all been buggy...and i think it's because i'm unable to completely wipe my phone. I do a complete reset in cmr as well as wipe the cache and davlik. Sometimes i'll wipe them 2 or 3 times each. Still, I have left overs. I used Rom manager to flash hybrid 2.2 today, had it wipe everything. Somehow, it still remembers my home network and password and connected like it was there all the time.

I did use Titanium backup to restore user apps and data, but not system data.

    What am i doing wrong?

Because Google backups wifi passwords in the cloud, if I recall correctly.

Have you been getting a lot of apps Force Closing? It's possible that is because you're out of space in the /data/data partition.

And it's usually best to do wipes from recovery. Some people have said that Rom Manager doesn't do a complete wipe sometimes.

Do you use a 3rd party app for your home email? If so, i could understand that info being there from the Titanium app/data restore.

Edit: perhaps you were referring to WiFi instead?

I've done wipes from both recovery and titanium, still it seems like things are never completely gone.

I was referring to wifi. This is the first time i've had that issue. usually when i flash i need to re-enter all my usual wifi spots and passwords, but not this time.

I'm not using any 3rd party apps for email, just gmail and exchange.

I'm not getting force closes (or at least they are very rare). Would I need adb to check the data/data partition? are there any good walk thru's on what to do there? I'm not a programmer, but I'm also not afraid to get in and get dirty as long as someone's (metaphorically) holding my hand.

    Any other suggestions?

Also, a big thanks guys for the help here! That's why i love this forum.

I had similar problems with certain versions of clockworkmod recovery. They just don't properly wipe, even from recovery. So, here's what I did to clear it all out.

    1. ran the 2.2 RUU
    2. flashed cwm

That was it. From then on, no more wiping issues.

I've typically had to re-enter wifi password as well. But out of curiosity, have you ever run one of the GB roms that had the extra option to backup your settings to Google servers? I think this might be what Euph was referring to and it's a good thought. I know I had that option on Nils Sense 3.0 rom and it bugged me b/c Google would take over and install my apps at startup when I preferred to use Titanium. So I opted out and received the warning..."are you sure you want to disable, all info will be deleted from Google servers" (or similar). I continued on and opted out but what if this info could still be syncing back due to having that additional option on previous roms once you enter in your Google credentials at phone setup? Seems plausible.

That may be what is going on. I had Nils previously and may have set it up to cloud sync without realizing it. That expains why my apps have been downloading without me asking for it.

I noticed clockwork has updated to 5.something. Currently i'm using 3.x.
Should i update it or downgrade it? any expereience with 5.x?

also, how do i "run the 2.2 RUU"?
