Need help with the HDMI hook up to the tv

Im having trouble with the hook up. My hdmi is enabled on my phone, when i choose 720p resolution it's not supported, but when i set it to 420p it seems to be good, when i hook it up while playing a movie my TV says detecting. It stays like that and the movie isn't displayed on my TV. My friend did it through my phone to my TV and when he did it it worked. Am i missing something like a different setting on my TV or phone? Or could it be my hdmi wire? Please help

try unplugging and reinserting the hdmi cable into your phone. also rom and kernel version can be key. have you changed either since your friend was successful? i remember some kernels had a broken hdmi setting for a while....i think zvb and zvc were subject to problems if using blitzkrieg or pg's plague ( earlier name for it back then i think)

make sure the cable you are using is micro hdmi to hdmi, and is not a normal HDMI with a converter attachment
