Need help with this, not sure if I did something I can not repair...

Was running Clean ROM DE and decided to check out Nils ROM.

Made a Nandroid backup of Clean ROM DE at current state.

    Flashed Nils.

Flashed updated Kernel to April 6 version.

Decided to go back to Clean ROM DE.

    Nandroid Restored.

    Wifi did not work.

Thought it had something to do with the Kernel so decided to flash another one. Checked out Incredikernel latest build.

Now the phone is stuck at the HTC screen. Will not boot. I can not get into recovery either.

What do I have to do?

    ANY help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

how did you use recovery in restoring your nandroid?

if you booted to a permanently installed recovery, then your nandroid did not iinstall the kernel that matched it,wich is where the module mixup occured that casued your wifi not to work.

at this point you can either restore a backup,or reflash a rom and kernel.

to restore a backup you will need to either:
1)launch recovery from fastboot(follow directions for temp recovery in step 2 here: http://androidforums.com/rezound-al...ys-noob-friendly-root-guide-start-finish.html). doing this will let the nandroid reinstall its kernel/boot image

2)with a permanently installed recovery youll need to fastboot flash boot the boot image after restoring the nandroid, just like when instaling a new rom. you can find the bootimage inside the nandroid if you move it to your PC and look inside.

if youre having prollems with recovery:
power off phone, remove battery. wait 10 seconds. replace battery. hold vol down, then power until you get to hboot. if you select recovery from the hboot screen, you should get to your recovery.

if you somehow dont have recovery,or wish to boot it from fastboot,do the above, then select fastboot from the hboot menu.

you can then follow directions in step 2 from the link above to permantly install and/or temporarily launch recovery.

i personally think its best to launch recovery from fastboot whenever you
want to mod your phone, even if you have it permantly installed also. when recovery is used in this manner,it will install the kernels, just like an s-off phone, wich makes it a bunch easier to restore nandroids and flash new roms,as more devs set them up for a "one flash" install for s-off users.

yeah it sucks to always have to plufg into a PC to mess with your phone. but thats part of dealing with htcdev vs a true s-off. if you dont want to s-off your phone, then plugging into a PC is only a minor inconvenience.

    hope that helps :)

Man, you always seem to be on call and here when everyone needs you!

    Thanks for the help.

I was able to figure out how to get back into fastboot....did a adb fastboot and it worked.

I will check what you wrote and use your method since I need to flash the correct kernel now. This was a bit of a scare, first time I ran into trouble like this.

I think the problem is that the incredikernel is gb only until source is released.

That makes sense, I didn't think about that.
