As my 3 year contract comes to an end, buying a new phone coming with a new experience begins to bloom. Lol I spent a whole minute thinking up that sentence haha.
Anywho, I'm torn between getting the iPhone 4, recently announced to Telus, a canadian carrier, or a Motorola Milestone.
Here is what I want out of a phone:
    Variety of apps,
Easy UI and OS to get around
    GREAT TEXTING EXPERIENCE (THREADED ETC)
    Awsome display
    Good Camera
Physical keyboard is whatever... I got used to a virtual one so yeah..
    __________
I also may want to get into writing apps...**

So what are your suggestions? This is a 3 year contract and I want honest opinions as to which one would make me last throughout my contract easier.
Thanks in advance for anyone trying to help a confused teen in a world maybe too full of choices!

He's in Canada, he can't get the Evo 4G.

Everyone in this forum will suggest based on their personal preference and it really just boils down to your preference. I'd suggest waiting until the iPhone 4 is in stores and go check 'em both out. See which one you prefer.

If you'd like additional info and opinions, there are plenty of threads in these forums discussing the merits of both platforms .

I agree with viper8628, you should go and check both phones in the stores. Play with them a little, see which feeling you prefer.

There is no good answer, so it's really about personal taste and price.

My advice. Unless you are locked into Telus and your phone number take a look at other carriers and what they offer as well. The Milestone is nice, solid and easy to use, though with any UI there is a learning curve. I am quite happy with mine.

I can't give an objective response on the iPhone however.

If you're considering an Android phone, I'd look at HTC phones with Sense, I don't think I could use a phone with stock Android after being used to Sense. I'm just not sure what's offered in Canada...

There is no such thing as a dumb question. :)Uhhhhh, that being said, you asked if an iPhone or an Android phone is better on a forum for Androids.
I think you should get the Milestone. Just Sayin'.......;)

  10. Absolutely.. that's what got me the Eris over the Droid last January; be sure to spend a lot of time with each device in the store, going back and forth between them a few times.

It's a bit of a hassle, but if you have a look around the forums at postings by people who say they are not happy with the device they purchased and would rather have this or that other one, you'll understand why it's advisable to spend a lot of time checking them all out.

Two things I came to realize as helpful: 1. Be sure to type on all devices you are considering, and 2. Keep in mind that the phones in the stores are being man-handled every day by a lot of different people with varying degrees of respect for store devices, some are gentle with them as if they are their own, but some are downright vandals and you may think some particular phone is flimsy or shoddy when in fact the slide out keyboard has been forced in and out by some galoot who probably grinned while he was doing it repeatedly.

    Good luck to you. ;)
