Does anyone know of any apps that can disable the camera? My work does not allow camera phones.
Not that I know of.
But the bigger question is, will they be okay with you having a cameraphone that's disabled? Will they even believe it's disabled?
I had a similar problem, awhile back, I was serving for 5 weeks on A Grand Jury and no cameras were allowed ... so i carried two phones and did the sim swap every morning on arrival and again on departure each eveing ... at least i had phone and text during the day...
I assume your location has a sign-in turn-in area for vistor's with cameras .. so maybe that is an option ..
Currently the IT department disables the cameras on work phones using software, but I need to check with them about if I disable the camera on my personal phone. I just wanted to see if an app existed that does this.
Will they buy off on simply removing the camera app?
Since this is FOR your employer, would YOU personally be okay with getting a cheapy phone?
And as justjimjpc mentioned, swap the SIM card when necessary?
I doubt your security or IT guys may know much about Android OS, or how to prove/disprove the camera function works.
Hello - wondering if there have been any new thoughts to this...I want the Samsung Moment, but as with markv621, camera phones are verboten at work. If I can find a way to disable and re-enable when I want ('cause I want to keep the camera)...that'd be ideal (although it might be impossible.)
Root, then manually remove the camera app. Of course, you'd have to convince your employer first that the camera app is really gone.
Can you see where this plan fails? You can't get away with a now-you-see-me-now-you-don't solution, it's gotta be a permanent thing.
There was another thread some time ago about this, depending on the strictness of how these rules are enforced the only absolutely acceptable solutions may be to (a) get a separate phone without a camera, or (b) somehow surgically remove the physical camera. Sticking masking tape over the lens, or any such (easily) reversible procedure, probably won't cut it.
Use any ICS mobile to disable the camera app. U can Disable/Enable the any app in the ICS. The option is developed. I am very Thankfull to Google for this.
This is the last thing you want to hear, but it might work:
Scotch 700 3/4-Inch by 0.007-Inch by 66-Feet Vinyl Electrical Tape
Install the app called 'Disable Camera device'. Its a free app you download from the Google Play Store.
Finally...found the answer without rooting the mobile..use this nocam app frm below link..Buy the app there is no way to get without buy..
what os version are you using? ICS allows you to do what you want, simply goto app settings, all, camera and click on disable button. just tried it out myself
There is a free app that does this for all android versions:
Install the app called 'Disable Camera device for ICS'.
surely any disable setting/disable app, can be reversed?
Considering this is a 2 year old thread I am assuming he figured it out.
