Does any one have netflix running on there prevail? And how
not possible at this time
whats stoping it i can log in but cant play a movie i get the 1005 err and thanks for your relply
Many Samsung Devices are getting the 1005 error and so far no solutions.
you guys arent supported, samsungs only phones that support netflix are on gb.. as samsung only made gb libraries for the drm... htc was nice and mad froyo ones and gb...
I don't have a netflix account so I can't verify this but I stumbled on this when I was trying to make hulu work on mine. If it works let me know
basically you're going to modify two lines of your build.prop to make netflix think you are on a supported device.
You don't need to edit the prop anymore, because the Newest Netflix removed the device check.
I rooted my prevail, managed to download the netflix app, got super user access edited the build.prop with both htc and nexus one, and i cannot get this to work no matter what I do! everything worked, I have root access, but when I put in my netflix user name and password it thinks, then shuts down the app. i am so close, and many hours in to this already, dose ANYONE have a successfullly working samsung galaxy prevail with netflix app?
are you kidding me? this isnt some bullshit of your phone is blocked guys.. you dont have the files, they are gingerbread only
I have accepted the fact that it does not work, but I have one question. The drm librarys; seeing as htc made them for froyo could they be used or ported to work for a samsung running froyo? I'm sure they answer in no, but I'm just wondering.
i suppose its possible, but along the lines of hacking flash, would require a crapload of time and effort and even then still may not work
Aha! So there is Hope! Keep Hope Alive! Get right on that Shabby, in your spare time.
Netflix uses flash? I did not know that. Yeah I'm giving up hope on this idea.
I do not believe he is saying netflix uses flash.
I believe he is say LIKE flash the probability of getting it to work is slim.
Oh, thank gosh. I was super confused. lol. I am currently communicating with my friend who has an HTC Evo running 2.2. Netflix is working for him, and he is looking into this. Any clue where the Library's would be stored?
youd have to have him run a logcat of it starting up and decompile the apk to see if it packs anything, check the xml to see what files are called
I thought an evo ran a different cpu, one that is supported by adobe?
ok just looked here
and yep as I thought it runs the 1ghz snapdragon cpu which is supported.
I think I may have misread your post, netflix is another matter maybe using that information could help get it on the prevail.
I was leaning toward the idea that his Evo is still running 2.2, which means it has the HTC Froyo drm library's.
Thank you for a starting point. Do you think the Library's are used/active at application start up or only when you are streaming the drm protected content?
honestly.. no idea i dont have/use netflix and even then my phone is officially supported so i n ever looked into it
I have gotten a older version of Netflix working on the prevail but I could not watch movies on it. The only thing I could do was manage my queue.
Netflix does not have an official app out yet for the samsung galaxy prevail. I have been informed that it is in the process of development & to just keep checking the android market.
yea I talked to netflix also and they told me that the prevail is one of the next to be supported.
if this is true then expect to hear the flames of hell. there are a good number of phones out that are in.. shall we say.. better markets, that netflix doesznt support. if the prevail (a mid end android phone on a prepaid carrier) gets it first.. lol there is gunna be a lot of pissed off people ;P
I used the lg optimus m (a similarly priced/featured phone) for about 2 days and could watch netflix with little problems. Only problem was metros 1x internet. That phone was a 600 mhz single core running android 2.2.1. Not even a lag, just some color seperation and a green line across the top. no hacks needed, but I did download it from the internet because my build.prop was not compatable.
FINALLY got netflix to work on my samsung prevail!!!!!!!
