Network unlock?

Roommate has a galaxy prevail and wants to network unlock it. It has a Sim card. Previous user ported number to different service.

If the previous user moved it from it's original carrier to a different one, then it must be unlocked already. If what you're saying is that when your roommate puts in his/her sim card, they see a prompt to enter an unlock code, then you'll need to get the original owner to request a code from the first carrier.

All his says is network code, so he would have to have the guy he got it from contact boost? And that's it?
