Did this happen to anyone? It seems I never received my promotional $10 for signing into Google Wallet, and now that I've rooted my phone I can't use Google Wallet at all...

Any suggestions? I think I'm going to get a Nexus 7 tomorrow, so hopefully I can get it with that.

I got mine. My phone is also rooted and Wallet still works. The "unsupported device" message is basically a security warning because if your phone is rooted then it's possible for someone to get your Wallet PIN if they get their hands on your phone and they know what they're doing.

It took about three weeks after the purchase of my Elite for the $10 to show up in my Google Wallet account. However, I am not rooted.

I don't think this is quite true, as the Elite itself is not a supported device, the only "supported" device being the Nexus S 4G from Sprint.

Still waiting for my $10 too.

The Elite is supported by Google Wallet. Which is why is can be bundled app. The unsupported device message doesn't come up until device is rooted.

    Here is info from google...

    Unsupported Device Policy

Some users may disable important security mechanisms in order to gain system-level "root" access to their device. We strongly discourage doing so if you plan to use Google Wallet. We are unable to support devices with unauthorized operating systems as the security layers of the device may be limited.

I got my $10 before root and the $15 after root.

I got $25. $15 when I first activated wallet and $10 three weeks later I believe it was. I have only had enough 3G to use it once though, took my daughter for a sandwich on our way home from an Iron Maiden/Alice Cooper concert.

They won't let you use money on the prepaid card to pay for app's in Google play. Can only use that money with wallet on your phone to make purchases at stores. I tried myself to order an app with it

I tried to use it in the play store and it didn't work so I called google about it. The guy on the phone said that there are actually 2 google services called "Wallet". There's the app on your phone that lets you use the NFC to pay for things in physical brick&mortar stores. And there's the online service that keeps track of your credit card and other details used to make online purchases at sites such as the play store.

As the guy on the phone told me, the two "google wallet" services are not connected. They are not interchangeable. You got the $10 gift card to entice you to try out and use the NFC phone app and those funds cannot be accessed and used from the online "wallet". To quote the google employee, "Yes, I know. It's confusing and very stupid. We're hoping one day to have the two wallet services merged into one service."

On a different note, I got that same e-mail saying that I have to hurry up and use my free $10. So I went to McDonalds to get some sundaes. The whole transaction was cumbersome. I swiped the phone and wallet started up and asked for my pin. Then it said to tap some ambiguous thing to finish the transaction. I tapped some stuff and the phone said the transaction failed. Then no amount of swiping the phone got any response from the wallet app. I restarted the thing and tried the process over. And the same thing happened - tap something somewhere, the transaction failed, unresponsive wallet app. Then I reached in my pocket and pulled out cash and paid the lady in well under 20 seconds. If google can't fix their shit and make it pay the lady in less time than it takes for me to pull money out of my pocket, then they can shove this wallet up their asses.

I've used it twice and had 0 problems. The 3rd time I tried I couldn't get 3g connectivity (no 3g on the elite? Imagine that).

I've used it several times and I like it. If you input your PIN while you're waiting in line then it's just one tap and you're done IIRC.

I have the full $25 to use up. The Google Wallet - where it works - site map for my area only shows Foot Locker stores, and a not-so-close Champps restaurant, that accept it. No McDonalds, or anything else, are on the map.

Can I use it at any PayPass merchant? If so, I have locations around me that use PayPass.

There is a little app in the play store from Mastercard that will show you all the stores around you that accept it. And yes I think it is pay pass

I know in my area 7-11, McDonalds, sheetz and home depot accept it.

It does work anywhere pay pass is accepted ..... well when it works. The first time I used it was at Shoprite, for groceries. I was so impressed I put another $50 onto it. BIG mistake!!! Since then I have experienced about a 75% failure rate. Sometimes it did nothing, sometimes I signed in on the phone but it never paid, a couple times it just vibrated. But my favorite time was at CVS. Everything seemed to work great, then the register asked for my card number.... paid in cash again.

Thankfully, I have finally used up all of the money. Don't get me wrong, it's great that Google gave me $25. But I'll be damned if I ever use that crappy service again.

This works, mostly Micky Dee's, CVS, Home Despot, and a few smog stations in Reno NV.

I think alot of the issues is the cashiers don't know what to do. A couple times that I used it they just looked at me like I was dumb. Now when I use it I tell them credit. If it asks for last 4 numbers of card you have to give them last 4 of card. You can get this by clicking on debit card in wallet.

I currently have my bank card linked to it and I've used it a bunch and never had any issues
