Does anyone know if this update is going to be distributed to the rest of the DROID users tonight around midnight? && what time zone??

Thanks!

I'm sorry, I did mean the 2.01. ;)

BGR reported mass updates starting today and continuing with 200k a day until they're all updated. The original leaked memo from VZW stated the update will happen on 12/11. I'm betting (and hoping for everyone who hasn't been updated yet) that they'll try to wrap it up tomorrow, especially with seemingly no major bugs being reported.

I want my update!! but im also excited to own a phone with such dynamic and constant change that is always improving... I like that.. as well as tons of apps that are continuously being updated and added... Not like a static phone with maybe one update in 2 years and no updates... I like the frequent updates and improvements and not having to go to a VZW store to get it...

A little off-topic, but it's great to see Verizon supporting the device from the get-go, and it gives some hope that they'll continue to do so for the long-term.

Prior to the Droid, I had an unlocked HTC Magic (MyTouch 3G) from Rogers, one of Canada's main telcos, that I was running on AT&T's network. Last I heard, they're still stuck at 1.5 and Rogers hasn't said peep about upgrading it to Donut, let alone Eclair.

Technically speaking, the device manufacturer is responsible for releasing updates. The carrier is only responsible for the OTA distribution.

True for the most part; however, the Rogers-branded Magic is essentially a stock MyTouch3G (a "with Google" phone). Android on both is plain vanilla. There's no proprietary HTC overlay on top of the base Android. What differs about the Rogers Magic, though, is that there are a few Rogers apps (ringtone garbage, account access, etc.). These are what Rogers would need to update.

The MT3G 1.6 update went live two months ago, and there was quite a bit of chatter prior to the roll-out - everyone knew the update was coming. With Rogers, though, there has been absolutely no feedback regarding the Donut update. In fact, HTC has continually said the ball is in Rogers' court.

I finally got my update overnight and when I woke up my girlfriend said your phone had a message on it asking to update so I just clicked update...man I was pissed lol.

I believe someone said there are 800,000 devices. So it could be as late as monday, i believe.

I did the force update. It was really easy, and i doubt the update going out this weekend is any different than the force update.

When I called Monday, the Rep. said there were 586,457 Droids active.. Still one heck of a number. By that number, all updates SHOULD be pushed through by Friday.

Woke up with the update waiting for me this morning. The Droid updated without any troubles. I did notice that Beautiful Widgets started reporting false temperatures and locations, but as it turns out, it was something else entirely that just happened at the same time (I hate when that happens!)

Be patient when running the update. It takes a fair bit of time to finish installing.

Woke up to my update notification this morning. Installed it, and noticed a number of things right off the bat. First, the obvious change of design on the unlock screen (I prefer the previous unlock with the rotating wheel). I also noticed that the phone seems MUCH snappier and smoother when opening the window shade or the app list, as well as other action animations. Maybe coincidence on my phone, but it certainly seems like 2.0.1 is better optimized for the Droid. Anybody else notice this?

Yeah much, much snappier. I like everything so far... But I'm a victim of the text lag too.
