Root New Behold 2 owner with a few basic questions

Hey got the Behold a couple weeks ago, just recently got into the customization aspect, installed some cool widgets and Panda home.

Anyway I was wondering what benefits do I get from 'root'ing my phone? Faster performance,more customization etc? Does it make a significant difference?

Also what is the smoothest home available? I know there is GDE but I'm not too fond of paying for something when I don't have to. I heard a couple of them don't work on behold Well either way, thanks

Well When you install the galaxy rom it will be very fast. and on stock its android 1.5 but from the galaxy you get 1.6

Its faster than stock no matter what rom you use. Battery life is better. The smoothest home replacements are ADW and launcher pro. You also get to instal the cool root apps like radium backup and adfree. Just type root in the market and see the the apps
