It'll be interesting what data speeds you'll be able to reach while watching videos on this plan. Plan states it optimizes streaming videos but if it's anything like t-mobile's binge on plans, a study found that what they actually doing is throttling data and relying on the video provider to adjust the bitrate. I don't think they've been told to stop by the FCC so I guess it's ok to call it optimized instead of throttling.
Anyway 2 lines for $80 sounds great.

I switched my son to the 50 dollar plan when I purchased the warp 7 for him and we haven't really noticed any differences. He told me he was using his phone to watch a movie online last night cause the internet was down at his mom's and he didn't have any problems.

I hope I'm correct in assuming where says that the plan includes up to 8 gigabytes of Wi-Fi hotspot usage that it won't require the extra $5 to use your phone as a hotspot (I can't root and bluetooth tethering only does so much).

Unlimited is up to 23GB, btw, after that you may experience throttling to 2G speeds (QoS statement from Boost's website).

Yep, the $50 plan includes up to 8GB hotspot. :thumbsupdroid:

For the $30 plan hotspot data counts towards you limit.

I can confirm the hotspot option now works.

However, once I changed my plan I needed to restart the phone since the hotspot option still gave the "not subscribed" message and when I tried to update the PRL and Profile it gave me an error saying it can't update. So after restarting, performing the updates and restarting again, everthing works. :)

Now lets see if I can use 23GBs of data... at least 8GB of wifi hotspot will be easy. I'm gonna try connecting my PS3.

Update: PSN connection worked and GTA5 online worked like a champ even with voice chat.

I switched my son to the 50 dollar plan last month. So far he has used around 30 gigs of data. He got a text and I got an email when he hit 23 gigs that his data speeds may be lowered during congested times but so far he hasn't noticed any difference in the last 4 days.

I've managed to use about 16gb so far and 4gb of the allotted hotspot data. I have also been USB tethering to my laptop using PDAnet which isn't consuming the hotspot data since it has a workaround.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied. The one thing I've noticed is YouTube videos don't always want to play and will even say "no connection" sometimes.

He's used 32 gigs and used almost 12 gigs of Hotspot without any issues at all.

I'm currently on the $60 Boost Unlimited plan ($55 with auto reboost) and I'm rooted so I can tether. I use most of my data tethering to my laptop at home. I had considered buying a new phone and now it looks like I only have the option to change to the new $50 unlimited plan including wifi hotspot.

On the $50 unlimited plan are you totally cut off from using your phone as a wifi hotspot at 8GB or is it just slowed down?

I will let you know soon. I'm currently at 21gb and have 5gb remaining for the hotspot. ;)

If your rooted you should be able to get by it, i use bluetooth and usb tethering which doesn't count. Also, you can edit your APN settings.

Is the system forcing you to change to a current plan or you just considering it?

No I can stay on the $60/55 unlimited plan for now. I was just considering buying a new Boost phone and it isn't rootable at this time. So the only way I could tether off the new phone would be to update to the new $50 unlimited plan and use it as a hotspot.

I just hit my 8gb limit and revived this text:
BSTFreeMsg Alert - You've exceeded your mobile hotspot usage cap of 8192MB. Usage will be available when your new plan month begins.

The hotspot still turns on but my devices do not have internet access.
Without root I can still use PDAnet for Bluetooth tethering or USB tethering to my laptop and then use Internet Connection Sharing to create a wifi hotspot.

Btw, with Bluetooth tether if you have another device to create an internet-less hotspot with and connect your Bluetooth tethered device to the network then it will have full use, otherwise Bluetooth tether only works with the browser. I have an old shattered Android running 2.3.6 with CM ROM that I use for this. ;]
